Show t ' MYTON ELEMENTARY FIFTH GRADE'- - . If you don't know why the boys of the fifth grade- don't have ;a soccer ball, this is th? reason. The father of one of the boys" let us take his truck to haul trash away from the school grounds. Some of the boys were playing soccer at-the time and the ball accidently rolled under the truck. The boys in the truck thought a rear' tire had blown out. Wg have not played soccev since. ' ' Last week at Armistice Day, the American Legion came dowr, to our , school and gave us a program. We surely liked the way ,the speaker had the soldiers sol-diers click their heels for us. He told us about Korea and how hard our soldier boys are fighting there so- we may be free at home. '. ' He also told us about the grave of the unknown soldier. Two gyards have been marching back and; forth in front of the grave -for thirty years now, that is; since World War I. He said we- always should honor the flag and stand at attention at-tention -when it is being raised and lowered. ALTERHA ELEMENTARY THIRD GRADE During National Education Week,, we all took invitations home -.to- our parents inviting them to visit school. Parents can visit school any time, but this was a special invitation. Some mothers came, but lots of them didn't. We had our - pictures taken Monday afternoon. We are go:ng to trade pictures with -each other. oth-er. We had school elections this week, too. Our class president is Carol Rassmussen; Charles Jenkins is 'vice president; Di-Anne Di-Anne Curry, secretary. Our room representative is-.FloTihe Corn-peach Corn-peach and our Red Cross representative, repre-sentative, is' Alice- Cesspooch. We learned that ' this is; the way people ' vote for the president of the United States. Our class has been having candy 'sales for a long time so we could buy a surprise for the school. Our class was in charge of assembly Friday, and we gave our surprise to the school then. It was a great big school flag with Alterra Elementary -'School written on it. It was made out of blue and white, which are our school colors. Mrs. Norton painted a big golden eagle on it. The golden eagle is our school emblem. Beatrice Reed and Wil-lard Wil-lard Gardner presented It to the school. ; . - 1 Dianne' Curry, reporter ROOSEVELT. ELEMENTARY"' FIFTH GRADE On Nov. 14, Mrs. Gardner's fifth grade put on the assembly.. It was - called,. "This -fis-"-Our America."-' The following people took part: Laura Ann, Larry, Arlene and Stave were the children; Dee, the. teddy bear; Ann., Pam, Linda, Karen, Barbara, Loya and Reva, dolls of the nations; Bryan, Uncle Sam; Maria, Columbia; Co-lumbia; Pam. Miss America; and LaRue, the mammy: Betty, Judy and Vaneta were Red Cross dolls; Bruce and War-10, War-10, sailors; Joan and Patsy, majorettes; ma-jorettes; Brent, Jon, Duane, Norman. Nor-man. Steve, Stacy, Kay, Bobby, Dee Lonnie, Billie and Darrell soldiers. We wish to thank Miss Anderson An-derson for her help with the music for our play. And we also would like to thank our room mother, Mrs. Floyd Peterson, and all the other mothers fo.-coming fo.-coming and helping us get , ready. , Rtnrv T.nkp SECOND GRADES The children in the two second sec-ond grades are studying about Pilgrims. We are listening to stories and looking at pictures about the Pilgrims. We are writing stories and coloring pictures. pic-tures. When we have them completed com-pleted we will make booklets. FOURTH GRADE In Mrs. Jensen's fourth grade we have been studying about the highland regions of the world. Guatemala, in Central America, was the example of a highland country that we studied in detail. de-tail. After we completed our unit our class made up a poem: Guatemala If to Guatamala I could go I'd see the things that they can grow. I'd see coffee, fincas and bananas ba-nanas sweet, Tortillas, breadfruit and corn -I'd eat.
