Show Win From Union The Longhorns were the happy winners of the contest with the Cougars of Union, Friday, Jan. 20. Altamont led most of the time during dur-ing the exciting and hard fought game, except during the third quarter, when ' Union took a 5-point 5-point lead. TAKEN TO HOSPITAL Mrs. Ed Crosby was taken to the Medical Center in Duchesne Wednesday morning, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Rogers and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Crosby and family of Salt Lake, and Sam and Earl Crosby of Provo came home to Mt. Emmons over the weekend because of the' serious illness of their mother. Mrs'. Wallace Rogers and children plan to remain with her father, Ed Crosby, for a while, here in Mt. Emmons, We all hope for a speedy recovery for Mrs. Crosby. Mrs. Colleen Nielson returned to Mt. Emmons from Salt Lake, Saturday. Mrs, Lucy Marsing, Mr. and Mrs. Orson Marsing, Wm. Marsing and daughter, Mrs. A. J. Easton, Mrs. Claire Pierce, Mrs, Wilford Powell and Ralph Marsing all of Price, were in Mt. Emmons Friday for the funeral of Mrs. Chester Hartman. Wm. Rhoades, Mr. and Mrs', Joseph Rhoades, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Clark came from Tabiona to attend the funeral of their cousin, Mrs. Rhoda Hartman. Mr. and Mrs. V. W. Fausett of Salt Lake was here ,to attend the funeral of Mrs Hartman. The Fau-ssets Fau-ssets were former residents' of Mt. Emmons. . Returning to their home in Hia-'watha Hia-'watha after Mrs. Chester . Hart-man's Hart-man's funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hartman, Earl Hartman 'is a cousin of Chester Hartman. Also here for the funeral were Mrs. Emma Remund and Son, Lloyd, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Powell, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Jensen and Mr, and Mrs. Glen Remund from Duchesne. Gleaner class was held at the home of Leona Swallow with Miss Diane HullingeT as hostess. Following Fol-lowing the lesson and discussion, led by Mrs. Edgar Miles, the class enjoyed light refreshments. PRESENTED SKIT Friday, Mrs, Anna Hartman's speech class presented a skit for the basketball Pep assembly. According Ac-cording to the speech class, basketball bas-ketball is played everywhere even in heaven and hell. Announcer Announ-cer was Dwane Evans, with Ronald Ron-ald Miles taking the' parts of St. Peter and a reporter. Shirley Mecham played the part of "Hy-rum "Hy-rum Hill gilly;"., Janet HpJJ . was "Mrs. Peabody;" Roberta Jensen was the nurse'; Randall Carlile was the doctor, Raymond Reay, the devil, and Jack Brotherson, the sports editor. Director of the skit was Merrlyn Swasey, Mr. Ny-berg Ny-berg talked on the signals used by the referees in a basketball game. The Moon Lake stake Sunday School held its monthly preparation prepara-tion meeting Sunday and was encouraged en-couraged with the increased attendance. at-tendance. CHURCH SPEAKERS High Councilman Walter Remington Rem-ington .from Bluebell was the first speaker at the Sunday evening meeting at Mt. Emmons ward. He was followed by a vocal duet by Mr, and Mrs. Bernard Dastrup, "I Know That My Reedemer Lives" accompanied by Carolyn Dastrup. Also visiting at Mt. Emmons ward were Mr. and Mrs. Keith Campbell Camp-bell ..from Roosevelt. Mr. Campbell Camp-bell was the second speaker, and talked on juvenile delinquency and the Word of Wisdom, FFA INITIATES ' Moon Lake FFA initiated ten chapter farmers and 3 new green hands into the' chapter at their Jan. 23 evening meeting. The boys were happy at the number of parents par-ents and friends who came out to witness the initiation ceremony. Kenneth Bird, Steven Walker and John Tew were made green hands. Chapter farmers were Jimmy Brotherson, Ted Clark, Max Fisher, Fish-er, Gary Hansen, Robert Iorg, Ferril Jacobson, Dick Miller, Paul Monson, Clark Reay and Ernest Riley, Following the initiation ceremony, cere-mony, Pres. Lyle Oman presented the FFA Sweetheart jacket to Doris Allred. Cookies and punch were served to all at the close of the meeting. Stake Home Builder officers and ward Home Builder teachers met at Mt. Emmons ward Sunday under un-der the direction of Mrs. Florence Mohlman- They planned the "Daddy "Dad-dy Date' Dinner." which will beheld be-held at Mt. Emmons Feb. 1. The Altamont senior chorus participated in the Basin Music Clinic held at Union High School Wednesday, Jan. 25. They had a guest conductor to practice with during the day and at night sang for the public. Mr. and, Mrs. Jewell Kolb and family spent the' weekend in Salt Lake on business and visiting the Quentin Kolb family. Mrs. Molly Whitehead from Springville and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Whitehead from Bluebell enjoyed dinner with the Glen Ames on Wednesday. PARTY POSTPONED The Mt. Emmons Sunday School ward Library party has been postponed post-poned to Thursday, Feb. 2 at 8 p.m. This occasion is being planned plan-ned to raise funds for starting the ward library. Everyone is' encouraged encour-aged to come and see the "Fashion "Fash-ion Parade," "Floro Dora Girls," "Barber Shop Quartet,"' "String Bean Yokum," and many other wonderful numbers'. There will be cake, cookies and candy for sale. Admission will be 500 for adults, 250 for students, and children under 6 will be , admitted ad-mitted free of charge. |
