Show Mrs. Mary A. Case To Observe Her 89th Birthday Mrs. Mary Ann Case will, observe ob-serve her 89th birthday Jan. 31 at the home of a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Case of the Mt. Emmons community. She was born in Provo Jan, 31, 1867, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Humble, who came to America as converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. For a number of years, during her girlhood, she lived with her family in Spanish Fork. At Spanish Fork on March 2, 1884, she married Frederick Aaron Case. Later vows were repeated in the Salt Lake Temple. In 1855, Mr, and Mrs. Case, with their infant Son Earl, moved to Jensen, Uintah County, where they made their home fof 24 years. When the' Uintah Indian Reservation Reser-vation was opened for .settlement in the early 1900's, Mr. Case filed on a homestead on the Lake Fork Bench in the area now known as the "upper country" in northern Duchesne County. The Case family fami-ly made their home here until' Mr. Case's death in December, 1945, at the age of 85. Mrs. Case has lived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Case most of the time since the death of her husband. Mrs. Case was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day Saints until recent years. At Jensen she served as first counselor counsel-or in the Mutual Improvement Association, a 'teacher in the Primary Pri-mary Organization, and Relief So-, ciety visiting teacher. She was sustained president of the first Relief Society organized in Mt. Emmons, Her church activity included in-cluded work in some of the other auxiliary organizations. As doctors and nurses were not available in the early days of the settlement of Mt. Emmons, Mrs. Case spent a great deal of time with the sick. She assisted at the birth of the' first white child born on the Lake Fork Bench. The Case family consists of nine sons and daughters: F. Earl Case, Mt. Emmons; Mrs. W. G. (Ethel) Neal, Mt. Home, Idaho; Mrs. Gardner Gard-ner (Jennie) Goodrich, Bluebell; Floyd Case and Mrs. A. L. (Mary) Snyder, Mt Emmons;, Wm, H, Case, Ogden; Ross Case, Vernal; Mrs. Leslie N. (Elda) Pearson, Boneta. There are 35 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great great-great grandchildren. |
