Show Wkiteocks Verna Hoopes Two Servicemen Return To Duty 2Lt. Jay Murray returned to duty on August 2. He expects! to be shipped to Korea in the near future. Calvin Anderton returned to duty on August 4. He also expects to be shipped to Korea. Both had spent some time here on leaves. ' Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Murray Mur-ray went through the temple in Logan during the latter part of July. Bob Marimon, of Chicago, and his friend, David Jones, who is working as a geologist with Stanolind, in Vernal, were overnight over-night guests at the Robert Marimon Mar-imon home recently. Frank Chamberlin returned home last week. Mrs. Betty Rasmussen and her two daughters are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marinus Christensen. Mrs. Robert Marimon and her daughter, Nancy, made a trip to Salt Lake the early part of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Brough, Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Hoopes, and Mrs. Ormon Sullivan and daughter, daugh-ter, Karen, and Carolyn Whiting have gone to Denver to visii with their grand parents, the John A. Olsens, who are working work-ing at the Mission Home there. The D. A. Whiting family reunion re-union was held in Uinta Canyon Can-yon August 9. Sixty-eight were present. A shower was held last weak at the Olif Duncan home fo-Norma fo-Norma Larsen. Neil Jensen won second place in the adult U B I C talent show. He was awarded a waffle grill. Leland Peterson and children are vacationing in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, this week: Three parties were held this week for Sally Oberhansly, daughter of Mark Oberhansly; for Francis Ann Coltharp, 'daughter of William Coltharp; and for Stanley Wardle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tal Wardle. Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Bastian and children will spend their vacation va-cation in Seattle, Washington. They will leave Thursday. I Dallas Spencer spent the weekend at home. He is working work-ing at Tooele. Those visiting with Ira Paco were Mrs. Cassie Ford, Erma Roeberry and baby daughter, Thelma Barnson, Salt Lake City, and Elva Burke, Vernal. Word was received last week by' relatives that Mrs. Miller, of Provo, had passed away. Her granddaughter, Francis Whiting, went out to attend the funeral services. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Riggle, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Peterson went dancing at Steamboat Springs last Friday. Leah Gail Duncan, who is employed em-ployed at Ke. chum's in Salt Lake City, was home recently-for recently-for a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs Elden Duncan. Mrs. Mildred Anderton is seriously ser-iously ill in Salt Lake City. Eulala Olsen, a secretary for Franks Lumber Co., Salt Lake City, and a friend, Jerry Harrison, Har-rison, visited recently with Eu lala's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Olsen. ' Sunday School faculty meeting- was held at Ivin Bastian's home last week. MIA officers ' meeting was held at the home of Lillian Wilkerson Monday at 8 p. m. Speakers at Sacrament meeting meet-ing were Lamont Nielson, of Roosevelt, high councilman, and Mr. and Mrs. Gale Wilson, also of Roosevelt. Mary Gardner sang a solo. Members of the Relief Society quilted Tuesday and also canned vegetables. Monday a large group of men with tractors and shovels put iri a pipe line to the canal by the store to' drain off surplus water that has been doing some damage. dam-age. . ' Mr. and Mrs. Everett Coons and children are on a two-week vacation in Provo. Mr. Coons is the auctioneer at the Uinta Sal&s Barn, Roosevelt. Mrs. Maxine Allred is expecting expect-ing her husband home in a few days. Mr. Allred is in the Navy and has not been home for two years. Miss Gwenda Winn is visiting in Salt Lake City with her sister. sis-ter. Mrs. Jim Forakis. Mr. and Mrs. Mat Zager and son, Clyde, of Murray, are visiting vis-iting with friends and relatives. The Zagers were formerly from here and evpect to return in a year's time. They report that there is no place like the Basin. Karen Crow, of Salt Lake, is visiting with her grandparents. grandpar-ents. Mr. and Mrs Morris Winn. Mrs. Dell Rand from Good-land, Good-land, Kansas; Mrs. Grace Sawyer Saw-yer and son, Keith, of Plain-ville, Plain-ville, Kansas; and Mrs. Mildred Gooding, from Lincoln, Nebraska, Nebras-ka, stopped Tuesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Larsen. They were girlhood friends of Mrs. Larsen. Mrs. Jane Zimmerman flew heme - Wednesday from Dallas, Texas. She will visit here for a month. She will be remembered remem-bered as the former Jane Larsen. Lar-sen. The Larsens had a family reunion re-union at the Jay Larsen home last weekend. Thirty-four wer.5 present to enjoy a picnic supper Saturday night and later went to the Sun Dance. They had a family dinner on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hoopes spent last Saturday and Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Cook Dixon, former form-er residents of Lapoint, at Craig, Colorado. Floyd Collett, of Arizona, is visiting relatives here. He came with his parents'. Among those who attended the Relief Society Convention in Vernal were Bishop Gilbert and Ora Ellingford, W i 1 m a Ro'bb, Muril Moosman, Mildred Moosman, Elsie Twitchell and Verna Hoopes. Mrs. Lela Anderton has been working at the Commercial Bank this past week. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Robh and children and Mr. and Mrs. Gaii Rasmussen spent the weekend fishing in the mountains.
