Show SENATOR WALLACE BENNETT 1 MAKES INTERESTING SURVEY . . . ' ? - An interesting survey was recently made by Senator Wiace F. Bennett (R. Utah), a copy of which was sent tome the early part of this week. . . Because of its interest-isf interest-isf nature, I am using it as a part of my column this week. "From April 9 to 25 Senator Wallace F. Bennett (R. Utah) received letter from 871 Utahns, expressing their views on 16 important questions posed by Radio Commen-ator Commen-ator Fulton Lewis, Jr. These letters were part of a reported 1,400,000 communications to congressmen expressing views on Lewis' questions; and, because they came as a spontaneous spon-taneous reaction of the writer and were unsolicited by the . Senator, he decided to study the results of the questions and answers. - " On May 22 Senator Bennett wrote those who had written writ-ten him on the subject, informing them of the results of the tabulation of the answers to his mail and comparing it with Mr. Lewis' computation- on a national basis. "Utahns seemed to follow closely the pattern of writers from the nation as a whole. For example, in answer to the I question, 'Do you feel confident that Europe will fight Jo I the end against communism?' the Utah and national aver- ajes Were identical 93.3 in each instance saying 'no? I Utahns were inclined to favor Universal military training l but only 51.2 voted yes, as compared with a national J '"rage of 59.9. In expressing their views that President 1 Truman should be impeached (the letters followed the Mc-Arthur Mc-Arthur firing), Utahns were more positive in their views; " voting 'yes,' as compared with 91.8 on the national f el. Only 94.4 of Fulton Lewis' listening audience, who Iywte their congressmen, thought President Truman was sincere in his effort to cut unnecessary government spend-I spend-I K whereas 99 of the Utah writers thought the President i insincere." i v E v The latest scientific studies in Sweden and America "ate that the ability to drive a car safely is decreased we amount of alcohol contained in one bottle of beer. v E v .
