Show Saturday Is Poppy Day Saturday, May 26 has been proclaimed pro-claimed Poppy Day by Governor J. Bracken Lee as the time to again pause to remember our nation's na-tion's fallen defenders and to also aid disabled veterans and needy little children of veterans. The poppy program is based' upon up-on our desire to keep forever bright the memory of those who gave their lives for America, and to aid those who live in suffering because they served their country. To shed light where there is darkness, to make joy where there is sorrow, to give hope where there is despair are purposes of the little red poppy. The poppies are made by disabled dis-abled veterans and every American Ameri-can citizen should be proud and happy to be wearing a poppy Sat- urday which tells the world that we remember and are grateful to those , who have -made it possible for you and me to live in a country coun-try like America, where God is known and worshiped; where every ev-ery man may use his God-given talents to make a better life for himself and his associates; where family life is sacred;, where every child has a right to education and religious training. Poppy sales chairman for the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 64, is Mrs. Themis Costuros, who will have Boy' Scouts and Auxiliary Aux-iliary members throughout the city to sell poppies Saturday. Your generous support of the program will be appreciated. A poppy window win-dow is on display at the Uintah Power and Light Co. |
