Show Legion Groups Meet In Party j The American Legion and; Auxiliary held an outing on the Lake Fork River Saturday night. They enjoyed a weiner roast. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Rochel, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. E. Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Dump. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Case, May Carroll and Clyde Lambert, Altonah; Mr. and Mrs. Max Allred, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Har-ry Fieldsted, and Mr. and Mrs. Ray McMillan, from Boneta. Mr. and Mrs. Art Powell and daughter, of Farmington, visited vis-ited Mrs. Mary Carroll, Mr. and Mrs. Linford Maxfield. and Mr. and Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Powell, recently. Rex Fowler, student of the University of Utah, arrived home last weekend for summer vacation.. His sister, Mrs. Norman Nor-man Hayes, came with him for a short visit. Mr. and Mrs. Clenty Ames. Bonnie, Allen and Dora spent last weekend fisiting in Kanosh and Meadow. Walter K. Smith, of Washington, Washing-ton, national fieldman for the American Aberdeen-Angus Association, As-sociation, transacted business at the Gilbert Beebe ranch Monday. Mon-day. Jim Finicum, of Vernal, accompanied him. Mr. and Mrs. Orvil Stone and family, of Duchesne, were over night guests of Mrs. Stone's pai-ents, pai-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Smith, Sunday night. Little Maxine Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Smith, of Roosevelt Roos-evelt is spending a week with her grandparents. Albert Snyder, of Spring-ville, Spring-ville, visited relatives here last week. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Mohlman and family returned home the latter part of the week, after a trip to Seattle, Washington. Mrs. Laura Mohlman returned with them after having spent some time In Seattle. Relief Society work meeting was held Tuesday. A quilt wa; quilted for the Relief Society. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Tayson, of Pocatello. Idaho, and Mr. and Mrs. Lafe Burgess, of Provo, visited their sister. Mrs. Ralph Allred, and brother, Glen Burgess, Bur-gess, and families, from Tuesday Tues-day to Thursday last week. Among those from Altonah who attended Mutual conference confer-ence in Salt Lake City were Mr. and Mrs. Ty Kolb, Mrs. Lester Les-ter Maxfield; Mrs. Clenty Ames, Mrs. Linford Maxfield and Mrs. Dallas Ames. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Maxfield left during the week for Cascade Cas-cade Locks, Oregon, to spend their vacation with their daughter daugh-ter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Besst. Boy Scouts enjoyed a hike to Currant Creek on Tuesday. Directing Di-recting them was Perry Maxfield, Max-field, assistant scoutmaster. Other Oth-er boys making the trip were Walker and Jack Reese. Grant and Carl Mohlman, Larry Maxfield Max-field and Wilford Anderson. They returned home Wednesday. Misfortune, or just hard luck, seems to be following Clinton and Lena Bowden. A cow kicked kick-ed Clinton last week and broke two ribs, and then a few days later while Lena was helping clean ditches with a ditcher, it overturned, throwing her beneath be-neath the blade which badly injured her leg. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Reese made a trip to Salt Lake City Friday. Mrs. Reese attended the Mutual conference. Mr. and Mrs. Dee Clark and family, of Meeker, Colorado, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. E. Clark, Wednesday night, after a week of visiting in Salt Lake City. Miss Dorothy Williams Wil-liams returned with them to her home in Meeker, after visiting Cleo Clark for a week. Mrs. Robert Snyder and family, fam-ily, of Springville, brought Mrs. Elva Snyder home Thursday, after af-ter attending a postmaster's convention con-vention in Logan last week. Mrs. Robert Snyder spent a few days visiting relatives here. The Mutual gave a party Tuesday night on the Lake Fork River for the Junior Gleaners, Junior M-Men, Explorers and Mia-Maid classes. Mrs. Margaret Maxfield and Claude Murray are their leaders. Twenty-six boys and girls enjoyed the evening eve-ning roasting weiners and marshmellows, and partaking of other refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Farns-worth Farns-worth and Mr. and Mrs. Chubb Reay have received word that their daughters, Lula Bell and Marie, who are working at Hill Field near Ogden. and in Salt Lake City, are vacationing in San Francisco. The high water is doing quite a lot of damage in this area. It has washed out a bridge on the Lake Fork River between Altonah and Mt. Home, and crews are fighting to save the bridge on the Yellowstone River. |
