Verna Hoopes Fire Destroys Dairy Equipment Fire destroyed the milk house, milking machine, barn, sheds and about 30 tons of hay on the Bill Hoopes ranch Sunday afternoon. af-ternoon. One calf was burned to death. The blaze apparently started under the shed where lighted firecrackers had been thrown. It was not discovered until it had reached considerable proportions, pro-portions, and as there was a strong wind blowing there was no way to control the blaze. However, the wind was blowing-east blowing-east and slightly south, which perhaps prevented it from coming com-ing farther north and they were able to save a few old sheds, 2 graneries and their home. Damage Dam-age was estimated at about $2500.00. Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Peterson, Peter-son, of Roosevelt, and Mr. and Mrs. Jay Betts. of Pleasant Grove, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Betts over the weekend. Mrs. Mable Ellingford, who recently moved to Lehi, is visiting vis-iting here. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Brough visited in Roosevelt over the weekend. Mrs. Lila Anderton has returned re-turned from Vallejo, California, where she had been living for the past month. Her husband had been stationed there, but is being transferred to Korea. |
