Show Future Farmers Toyack Chapter By Tom Rowley Last Thursday and Friday, Ken Zirker took Don Bums, Keith Mortensen, Norman Tanner, Tan-ner, Ron Zirker and Tom Rowley Row-ley to Salt Lake City to enter the state F.F.A. judging contest con-test and to visit the Intermoun-tain Intermoun-tain Junior Fat Stock Show. Thursday morning they watched watch-ed the judges place the fat animals an-imals at the show, and later went through all the North Salt Lake stock yard corrals. At 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon, after-noon, Ron Zirker. Keith Morten-sen Morten-sen and Tom Rowley entered in the livestock judging contest. This contest included beef, swine and sheep. After the judging was over they all went to Lagoon where they enjoyed the Fun House as well as many other things. That night they slept in the stock yards horse barn. The first thing Friday morning morn-ing all the fellows made a tour of Cudahy's packing plant, which proved very educational. After the tour they watched the sale of animals shown the day before, then at 1 o'clock Don Burris, Norman Tanner, and Tom Rowley went to the other end of the city to judge dairy cattle. The cattle judged are considered con-sidered some of the best in the world. The results of the contest have not been released to date. Although Toyack fellows did not have any stock in the show, they learned many thing's which will help them in selecting and feeding stock in the future, |
