Show Roosevelt Stores Burglarized Last Friday flight The Roosevelt city police department de-partment is still probing into a rash of robberies that took place last Friday night. According to Chief Roe McDonald, three local business establishments were entered en-tered and merchandise and cash totaling approximately $2200 were taken. The biggest haul of the night was made at Bump's Western, where merchandise and cash, including in-cluding several guns, valued at $2000 were taken, Larsen Bottling Company's safe was peeled and $130 in cash form looted. The other store entered was Safeways, but up to " Wednesday evening nothing had been reported as missing. According to Chief McDonald, entrance into Bump's was gained through the skylight. At Larsen Bottling the robbers pryed a hasp and lock off the front door that opens onto 1st North Street, and a window at Safeways was forced ! loose. After peeling the safe at Larsen's, only currency and silver was taken, with papers and checks being strewn about the place. Marshal Rex Cook was notified by Clair Larsen about 11 p.m. Friday that his place had been broken into. Chief McDonald was summoned and together they investigated in-vestigated the robberies. He served during 1953-54 as department commander for Utah and has long been active in the affairs of the American Legion Leg-ion in this area, in the state and nation. |
