Show Balloon Released In Roosevelt Found In Texas It sounds like a "Believe It Or Not" story by Ripley. . ;. But the facts prove that a small gas balloon released in Roosevelt by the Bowman i Machinery Co. on Jan. 3, 1953, was found in a field at Millet, Texas, on Jan. 6th three days later. A letter bearing the Jan. 6 dateline, from Kie McCombs, Millet, Texas, was received by Marion Bowman, manager of the local implement dealership, dealer-ship, advising him that a small blue balloon , bearing the following fol-lowing inscription "Ford Golden Jubilee Model Tractor 1903-1953 Bowman Machinery Ma-chinery Co., Roosevelt, Utah," was found that morning in his field hanging on to the stubble. iMr. Bowman stated several of the gas-filled balloons had been released in front of their office the morning of Jan. 3 the day they began showing their new Ford Jubilee Model Mod-el Tractor. The Standard doesn't know . the exact location of Millet, but anyone knows that Texas is a long way from Roosevelt. |
