Show ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Last Friday our assembly was presented by Mrs. Fredrickson's sixth grade. They told us about Columbus discovering America. Announcers were Elinor La-brum, La-brum, and Velma Fenn, Joel Murphy was King Ferdinand and Sonja Neilsen was Queen Isabella. Entertainers in the court were Burke Eldredge, who played a harmonica solo: Myrna Fenn, Barbara MacDonald and Darlene Huxford, who did a tap dance; Neil Anderton, who sang a song, and Douglas Labrum, who played a saxophone solo The soldiers, Gordon Bascom, Lyle Swain, Ivan Hamilton. Lea-nord Lea-nord Potter, Ted Brewer, Cecil Johnson and Jerry Murray, gave a marching flrill. Christopher Columbus was portrayed by Homer Cook, and his mate upon the Santa Maria was Douglas Labrum. When they reached the new land they found Indians.' Kay Chugg sang a , lovely solo. The other Indians were Jimmy Shaw, Jack Ross, DeLyle MacDonald, Georgeanna Fullmer, Naomi Adams, Marlene Young, Joyce Hamblin. The readers were Dora Campbell Camp-bell and Reginia Reay. Mrs. Tietjen's fourth grade has just concluded a study of the people who live in the rain I forests along the Amazon river. iThey have made an interesting sandtable of the Indian village and the forest. The class also has an exhibit I table with things on it the stu- dents have made. Mrs. Jensen'. i fourth grade visited the room to : see the exhibit and also the pic-' pic-' tures that had been drawn. Many other children have also j been in to see the exhibit, which jthe class is happy to display. |
