Show 1 Kiwanians Hear Indian Leader; Plan Ladies Night Guest speaker at the last week's meet of the Roosevelt Kiwanis Club was John O. Crow, newly appointed superintendent of the Uintah-Ouray Indian Agency. He .discussed the problem of tribe segregation now being employed by the Ute Indian tribe. Mr., Crow explained' some of the mechanics of the' division of the assets of the tribe which will . be done on a breed basis, and told what the Indian Department and society as a whole hoped would be achieved by the big change. He also briefly touched on the relocation re-location program which is aiding tribal members in training for new jobs and acquiring new opportunities opportun-ities in industry and business. This week, Thursday, March 1. the club is planning a ladies' night with Theron Leavitt in charge. Films on Civil. Defense and a musical mus-ical program is anticipated by the group who will' meet at 7:30 at the Frontier Grill Cafe. |
