Show s$rcciclia By Mrs. Merle Ross Seminary Gives Sunday Program The Seminary class from Duchesne, Du-chesne, with their teacher, Glenn Mitchell conducting, and Viola Summers directing, presented the program in Sunday Night Sacrament Sacra-ment meeting. Opening prayer was given by Guy' Mayhew; speakers speak-ers were', Gail Stutz, who spoke on missionary work;, Orvin Barker, Chastity; J. D. Wimmer, Word of Wisdom; and Colleen Pulley, What Seminary Means to Me. Mr. Mitchell' Mitch-ell' gave a very stimulating talk on Seminary work. Musical numbers furnished were a trumpet solo, Rex Davis and a piano solo, Cheryl Merrell. The benediction was by Arlene Wimmer. Wim-mer. The programs brought to us by the different Seminaries are always al-ways very interesting and we do appreciate the efforts put forth by these teachers and students. G. B.. Workman and Arvin Moon, stake high councilmen, were also in attendance at the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Wells Rasmussen and Loren Rasmussen made a business bus-iness trip to Rangely, Colo. Wednesday. Wed-nesday. They were accompanied by Mrs. Max Ross, who visited her husband who is working there, Mrs. Marie Shields and Ora Hoi-gate Hoi-gate accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Marion Ross of Pleasant Valley to Salt Lake, Thursday, where they went through the Temple with Ruth Walters and Rulon Skinner. WILL DANCE IN FESTIVAL The MIA officers are very glad to have some of our young people making preparations to dance in the all-church dance at June conference. con-ference. Tuesday night after Mutual Mu-tual they practiced' with the Bridgeland group and Bridgeland and every Thursday night they practice in Duchesne. Those participating par-ticipating are: Rulon Gilbert, Harold Har-old Groves, Richard Capson, Marsha Mar-sha Lusty, Eleanor Capson and Beverly Olsen. Mrs. Geneva Gilbert took care of the' small children of Mr. and Mrs. Arvin Bellon of Roosevelt while they attended theybasketball game in Provo. Happy to "be on his own again" is Arval Larsen, son of Mr., and Mrs. James Larsen. After four years in the Navy Air Corps with most of his time having been spent in Pensacola, Florida, he has now returned home. He visited his brother, Thomas, in Fort Manning, Ga., who is laboring as a missionary mission-ary for the LDS church, before returning home. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Beal of Salt Lake were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. LeGrande Gilbert. Harold Tanner has been out of school a week with the flu. Max Mullins and some friends from Salt Lake visited at the home' of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gilbert, Monday. We' boast some sports fans too Journeying to Provo to see the U - BYU game Friday night were Mr. and Mrs. Marv Bell and Hanphters and Rulon and - Naomi Gilbert. The Bells spent the night as guests of her parents in Spanish Span-ish Fork, while Rulon and Naomi visited friends in Provo. They all returned home Saturday. ROSE PROM SUCCESSFUL The Rose Prom in Duchesne, Saturday night proved to be one of the very nicest activities the Mutual has sponsored. The music was furnished by a Heber orchestra. orches-tra. Those attending from here were Mrs. Ida Horrocks and Mar-va Mar-va Mae, Sherry Gilbert, Richard Capson, Harold Groves, Ruron Gilbert, Beverly Olsen, Mr. and Mrs. Hale Holgate and Mr. and Mrs. John Gilbert. Jack Gilbert visited Hanna, and Stanley' Ross. Tabiona, as members mem-bers of the High Council, Sunday. Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Lusty were Mr. and Mrs. Verl Roper and son, Allen. Mrs. Merle Ross was very happily hap-pily surprised on her birthday, Monday night to have' her mother, Mrs, Cynthia Massey, brother, Arthur, Ar-thur, nieces, Mable Johnson, Pearl Stubbs, Mona Rae Brady and sister-in-law, Maude Massey, all from Vernal, drop in and spend the evening.. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jensen of American Fork and Mr. and Mrs. Kent Jensen of Provo spent the weekend visiting in the ward and at Tridell. The Jensens spent most of their time at the Bill Tan- ners, while' Kent and Ruth did the honors with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kay McKee of Tridell. Donna Ross and Joan Ross spent Wednesday evening in Vernal. Ver-nal. Mr. and Mrs. Arvin Bellon were Sunday dinner guests at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Gilbert. Hazel Eldredge of Vernal spent Tuesday and Wednesday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Johnson. John-son. They took her home Wednesday Wednes-day evening.. ATTENDS 4-H SCHOOL Mrs. Grace' Larsen came home from a full' week at the USAC, where she, in company with Mary Lois Reichert, the home demonstration demon-stration agent, have been attending attend-ing the 4-H Training School. She reports it was certainly an educational edu-cational week, and that 4-H work should really "hum" this year if they can put into practice all they learned. Mrs, Merle Ross, accompanied by her daughter, Donna, went to Vernal, Thursday 'night, due to the death of a girlhood friend, Fawn Caldwell Collier. Gail Eldredge and brother of Vernal stopped at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Johnson. They were enroute to Farmjngton, New Mexico, Mexi-co, where Gail plans on working. His wife, Hazel, plans on joining him later. Franklin, the small son of Mr. and Mrs. LeGrande Gilbert, has been very ill'. Coming from Salt Lake to see him were his grandparents, grand-parents, Mr. and Mrs. Austin Beal, and they were indeed glad to find him better, Wednesday night, Mr. and Mrs. Vere Neilsen of Bridge-land Bridge-land visited all of them at the Gilbert home. R. G. Ross, accompanied by his cousin, Gae, of Midyale came in to spend the weekend at the home of his parents. Gae visited with them also and was an overnight guest of Donna Ross. |
