Show loka Scout Troop Uins Top Honors At District Circus loka, Troop 264, walked off with top honors at the 1956 Roosevelt Roos-evelt District Boy Scout Circus, Feb. 15, before an audience of 176 persons, announces Loren Alexander, Alexan-der, Camping & .Activities chairman. chair-man. Seventy-two Scouts from 8 of the district's 14 troops saw loka, Troop 264, score 122 points. In second place was Troop 250, last year's winners, with 66 points. In third place was American Legion, Troop 700, with 47 points. Myton, Troop 253, scored 46 points. loka scored first in the uniform contest, attendance contest, and signaling. They were second in displays and' fire-making. In knots they had 6 points. An opening ceremony entitled "Our America," was presented by Myton, Troop 253, and American Legion, Troop 700, with George Hacking, District Commissioner, as narrator. Activities of the Circus began with knot tying, where Troop 700 earned 13 points; Troop 750, Roosevelt Roos-evelt Third ward, 9; Troop 264, loka and Montwel, Troop 262, each 6; Myton, Troop 253, 5 points, and Troop 250, Roosevelt Second, 2 points, i Fire-Making Honors Troop 253, Troop 264, and Troop 250 took the honors in fire-making. They made a blaze with flint and steel. loka, Troop 264, won the uniform uni-form contest; Troops 750 and 700 tied for second;, and Troop 250 was third. i Attendance contest was won by Troop 264, Troop 262 and Troop 700. ' Signaling saw loka score an e'arly 36 points; Troop 253 was second with 16; Troop 700 and Troop 270 each had 9; Troop 250 had 4, and Troop 750 had 3. In the last event of the evening Troop 250 won Simon says with Troop 270 of Neola, taking second and third, "We wish to thank all Scouts, their leaders, and the parents for making the Circus the' outstanding success it was," concluded Mr. Alexander. |
