Show i Casually Ohsetoincj By Cliff Memmott TWO BENEFIT- DRIVES are behind be-hind us with the completion of the March of Dimes and the Heart Fund. Both were very successful from a financial standpoint, which reflects credit and praise to those directing the campaigns. . . Arvin Bellon and his wife, Maurine, organized or-ganized the polio campaign for Duchesne County, and did a mag-nificant mag-nificant job in their first year. In Roosevelt the Heart Fund drive was supervised by Mrs. Bennie Schmiett and Mrs. Paul Stringham, and at Duchesne by Mrs. Tom Rob-bins. Rob-bins. Compliments go to these fine community workers for directing these worthy programs. - - c o - - j CATHOLIC YOUTH in the Roosevelt Roos-evelt area have organized and are planning an active program of recreation and education similar to the activities carried on in other parishes where the CYO functions. I commend the leadership leader-ship for helping the young people to become better citizens through this worth-while program. .-co-- The main reason we never enjoy small talk is that ft invariably in-variably comes in large doses. - - c o - - SCOUTING GROWS because of the leadership behind the program. A fact that has been exemplified the past year here in the Basin. To those who are' doing so much to lead' our boys must go the prize bowl of orchids this week. It's amazing how interest has caught hold of men and kids, and the progress that is in the making. mak-ing. - - c o - - 'Tis said that gals need beauty more than brains because most men can see better than they can think! --co-- CLAIR LARSEN HAS been the busiest man in Roosevelt the past few days, Since the story broke in the Tribune last Saturday Sat-urday of the big Uranium strike ' he and his buddies seems to have made down on the Dirty Devil, answering questions and receiving congratulation. . . . Clair says the story is pretty much true, but broke before it should, which is why there's nothing in our paper about the big $10,000,000 deal. --co-- It is disgraceful to stumble against the . same stone twice. Greek proverb. --co-- 1 I STILL CAN'T FIGURE out how the BYU lost that ball game to Utah last Friday night. Yes, I was there and' never have I seen a more thrilling ball game in collegiate col-legiate competition. They are truly two great teams, with Utah apparently having too much of something for the Cougars. . . Without taking anything away from the big boys, Pederson and Bunte, the real thrills come from watching Tebbs, Jenson, Hale and Steinke the little fellows. --co-- The best time to overcome a bad temper is before it gains control. con-trol. --co-- TV IS AROUND THE corner in Roosevelt, at least that is the firm conviction of Fran Harrison, Har-rison, who has been getting from fair to good reception at his home. . . Noticed Ed Labrum has an antena hoisted above his house don't know what he's getting, but it looks like maybe may-be it'll soon be here. |
