Show Increased f.oted At 200 In Scout Training Program Outstanding record of the year for Roosevelt District was a 200 per cent increase in the number of graduations certificates issued for formal training courses In the 1954-55 year there were 30 who completed formal training as compared com-pared with 94 during the past , year, reports James E. Bacon, District chairman. Largest field of progress by boys in Roosevelt District Scouting Scout-ing for the year 1955-56 is shown in the field of advancement, continued con-tinued Mr. Bacon. In advancement advance-ment for the year ending August 1956, there has been a 125 increase of advancement in rank over the 1954-55,, record. Credit for this substantial increase in-crease in advancement is given to Sharon Cummings, advancement advance-ment chairman, and his committee which has conducted' monthly district Courts of Honor. Membership in the Roosevelt . Scout District is up 23 boys over the 1954-55 total. A record 357 boy members are currently registered regis-tered in the Cub, Boy Scout and Explorer program of the Roosevelt Roose-velt District. - A net increase of three units are shown in Roosevelt District. Four new ones were organized in the 1955-56 year, and one dropped. Dropped unit was at Bennett. New one were LDS Cub Packs at Ballard, Roosevelt Third; LDS Explorer Post at Whiterocks and Episcopal Troop at White-rocks. Camping Dropped Camping in Roosevelt District shows a drop during 1955-56 with 827 boy nights of camping being recorded. In 1954-55 a record 1002 boy nights of camping were reported. Leadership responsible for the Roosevelt District are: James E. Bacon, district chairman; Ray Brown and Leo Haueter, vice chairman; Sharon Cummings, advancement ad-vancement chairman; Floyd Labium, La-bium, organization and extension chairman; Loren Alexander, camping camp-ing and activities chairman; Roe McDonald, health and safety chairman; Spencer Squire, leadership leader-ship training chairman; and Ted Olpin, finance chairman. Spencer Squire recently was named Roosevelt Roose-velt District Commissioner. |
