Show Fred A. Gross Is Retired From Indian Service FORT DUCHESNE Fred A. Gross, former superintendent superinten-dent of . the Uintah and Ouray Agency, retired recently at his last post of duty, the Tulalip Indian Agency in Puget Sound, Washington. His retirement from this position climaxed 39 years ' of service with the Indian Bureau. Bu-reau. Mr. Gross came to the Uintah and Ouray reservation in 19 J 5 as financial clerk under Supt. Albert H. Kneale, soon being promoted to chief clerk. Following Follow-ing the transfer of Mr. Kneale, Mr. Gross became superintendent superinten-dent and served in this capacity until 1926, when he was transferred trans-ferred to the Tulalip Agency. He was very popular with the Utes because of his long service with them. He was married at the Episcopal church in Rand-lett. Rand-lett. The town of Beresford. South Dakota, and June 22, 1890. were the place and date of Mr. Gross' birth. He received his education at Western Union college, Le-Mars, Le-Mars, Iowa, and Mosher-Lamp-man Business college, Omaha, Nebraska. |
