Our first consideration was the type of system than would be required Mr. Alan Grant Mann, a very interested Certified Accountant with the firm of Wood, Child Mann, Smith, Certified Public' Accountants, Salt Lake City who have audited the tribal accounts for a number of years was instrumental in getting the project started and supplied the needed information. From this beginning, we went back through the accounts from January Jan-uary 1st of this year and brought the accounts up to date, this helped as we were able to locate and classify those receipts re-ceipts and expenditures not anticipated. The system now in use with the costs accumulated for the full calendar year will continue to increase in value to interested personnel. Present employees in this section are as follows: Albert Al-bert L. LaRose, Tribal accountant; account-ant; Jason Cuch. . time, leave, payroll; June McClure Cook, purchase orders, vouchers, correspondence; cor-respondence; Genevieve Taylor, on temporary assignment assisting as-sisting payroll supervisor. R-N Snow Queen Chosen The Ute Recreation Department Depart-ment sponsored the Snow Ball dance, held at the Recreation Center, Ft. Duchesne, Saturday, Dec. 12. The reigning royalty selected was Joyce Arrowchis as queen, and attending her were Rosemary Daniels and Nor ma Jean LaRose. The royalty reigned over the Snow Ball dance and will also reign with Santa Claus when he comes for the Christmas party at Fort Duchesne, Du-chesne, Wednesday, Dec. 23. The royal trio will also assist Father Time from the year 1953 and usher in the little New Year 1954 at a gala New Year's party, to be held at the Ft. Duchesne Du-chesne Recreation Center. The royalty was presented with bouquets of red roses and personal gifts by Homey Secaku-ku Secaku-ku and Henry Cuch of the Ute Recreation department. Turkey Shooi A Christmas turkey shoot will be held at the Ft. Duchesne rifle range, Saturday, Dec. 19, 1953, at 11 a.m. Competition will be in the hi-power and 22 cal, rifle class. Ten oven-ready turkeys and other prizes will be given to the best qualifying targets. tar-gets. Everyone is invited, so come one and all. Christmas Dance and Party Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1953, at the Fort Duchesne Recreation Center, the Ute Recreation department de-partment in conjunction with the Ute Tribal Council, will sponsor the annual Christmas program for the reservation. The highlight of the evening's entertainment will be the visit by Santa Claus for all the little ones. He will -have gifts, candy and a lot of fun for all. Assisting Assist-ing Santa will be the Ute Indian Snow Queen and her attendants. The evening's entertainment will be chuck full of games, dancing and fun for all. Tal Wardle and his orchestra will be present to render some fine music for dancing. There will be several Christmas presentations presenta-tions by civic and church gro'ups for the enjoyment of the Tribal members, and all who attend. Don't miss this special occasion. Christmas tree and all . . . lots of fun. Gala new Years fariy Sponsored by the Ute Recreation Recre-ation department and the American Amer-ican Legion Post No. 126. There will be a floor show, dancing to an orchestra, games, and prizes. The party is to be held in the new Recreation Center at Fort Duchesne. . . Everyone is invited. . . so come on along and join the happy throng. . . refreshments. Ice Skating Ice skating ponds are now being readied at each of the community centers at Randlett, Ft. Duchesne. Ouray and White-rocks. White-rocks. The facilities will not only on-ly be used for skating parties, but there will also be organized in each area hockey teams to run off in an inter Tribal tournament. tour-nament. Particulars of this will be announced as soon as the facilities are ready for use. Checker Tournament Starting the first week in the new year, the Recreation de- partment will sponsor an inter-Tridal inter-Tridal check tournament for the purpose of selecting a Tribal checker champion. An official award will be made for the winner. win-ner. . . so all you old timers, checker champs and you youngsters young-sters sharpen up your tricks and learn how to play. . . everyone is invited to participate. Basketball News The newly organized basketball basket-ball teams look very promising and there is bound to be close competition when the play-offs start the first week in each community com-munity after Christmas. There is a beautiful basketball trophy on display at the Recreation director's office, which will be presented to the winning team. The Tribal champions will also be given individual awards and a dinner, honoring the ability of the team. Ski School As soon as the snow is deep enough at the Ft. Duchesne area, ar-ea, a ski school will be started for all members of the reservation. reserva-tion. Experienced ski instructors will be on hand to give personal person-al instructions for those who are interested in learning. Soon after snows are deep enough, a Tribal ski club will be organized or-ganized and trips will be made to nearby skiing facilities. |
