Show PTA Hears Board ember; Elects Officers At the final PTA meeting of the year Wednesday night, teachers and principals of the Roosevelt Junior High and the Elementary schools were honored hon-ored at a tea and program at the Elementary School. Theron Leavitt, Duchesne County school board member, was the main speaker of the evening, with remarks also being be-ing given by John Blaine and Lawrell Jensen, principals. Officers were elected for the coming year. Named as president presi-dent was Mrs. Cliff Memmott; vice-president, Mrs. Clem La-brum; La-brum; and re-elected secretary-treasurer, secretary-treasurer, Mrs. Hank Swain. Retiring Re-tiring officers are Mrs. Ned Bellon, president, who welcomed guests, and Mrs. Gilbert McKen-na, McKen-na, vice-president. Mr. Jensen and Mr. Blaine automatically act as second and third vice-presidents. A musical program was presented, pre-sented, under the direction of Mrs. Bennie Schmiett, with the following numbers given: trumpet trum-pet solo, Lloyd Carlson, accompanied accom-panied by Janice Anderton; vocal vo-cal solos. Miss Esther Wogec. accompanied by Mrs. Schmiett; and several piano selections by Laura Ann Leavitt and Linda Schmiett. The color scheme predominating predomin-ating in tea table arrangements was yellow and green, with a centerpiece of yellow tulips, accentuated ac-centuated by lighted green tapers. tap-ers. The table was covered with a lace cloth over yellow. PTA activity will be resumed re-sumed next fall, and it is the hope of the new officers that parents and teachers will cooperate co-operate to the fullest extent and make PTA attendance a must on their calendars. |
