Show Early Treatment Urged For Nail Swallowing Cows Speed in the treatment of cattle that have swallowed wire, nails, or other metal objects is highly important, according to Dr. E. H. Gibson, Cache Valley veterinarian. Dr. Gibson, whose experience with "hardware" disease in cattle cat-tle is reported in the December 17 issue of the Utah Farmer magazine, said that unless the metal is removed from the animal's ani-mal's stomach at an early date, it usually causes an abscess and ultimately death of the animal. Dr. Gibson has performed surgery sur-gery on 289 cattle in the past three years to remove such metal met-al objects. Cattle, he reports, usually pick up the wire or hardware with their feed. |
