Pres. and Mrs. Ezra Nixon, who were there as stake visitors, both talked. Allen Gines sang a solo. VISIT TEMPLE Of the 19 members of the Roosevelt Roos-evelt stake who participated in the LDS Temple excursion on Friday, 11 were from the Ballard ward. Those attending were, Bishop Bish-op and Mrs. Golden Collins, Mr. and Mrs. Junior Jenkins, John Page, Orlan Cook, Marvin Kettle, Zane Asay, Mrs. Lynn Bracken and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bingham, Bing-ham, who are residing in Salt Lake City this winter. Mrs. Wilmar Parrish and Mrs. Francis Crozier, of Whiterocks, motored to Vernal on a business trip one day last week. Lynn White, who completed his mission course in the Mission Home in Salt Lake City, spent a short time with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alden White, before leaving for Brazil, where he expects ex-pects to spend the next two and one-half years. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph McMullin and twin daughters, Karen and Sharon, and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph O'Neil and small son motored to Mt. Home on Saturday evening to attend a family get-together at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Geddis Lindsay. Mr. and Mrs. Bill McKee and Mr. and Mrs. Howard McKee, of Vernal, were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Von Haslem on Saturday evening. Mrs. Clarence Betts and two daughters have moved to Roosevelt Roose-velt where Mrs. Betts has employment. em-ployment. Mr. Betts is employed in Carbon County. RELIEF SOCIETY MEETS Relief Society held their work day on Tuesday, Jan. 11, with quite a few ladies coming and spending the day making a quilt. A pot-luck lunch was enjoyed at noon. PREPARATION MEETING Primary ward Preparation meeting meet-ing was held Thursday evening, Jan. 13 at the Jesse Hullinger home. There were thirteen officers and teachers in attendance. After the lesson work Mrs. Erie Hatch and Mrs. Ole Rasmussen served a delicious lunch. Mrs. Don Simmons and small son visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wilmar Parrish Saturday. Satur-day. Donald Heed, son of Mrs. Ven-ita Ven-ita Heed, was operated on for appendicitis ap-pendicitis on New Year's night. He is back in school again. Mrs. Rulon Anderton substituted in the school class room for Junior Jun-ior Hicks two days last week, and Mrs. Wilson Gutzman taught in Mrs. Mary Burgess' room two days, also. Mr. and Mrs. Alden White made a trip to Salt Lake City and Pro-vo Pro-vo last week. Mr. and Mrs. Elton Kettle made a business trip to Vernal last Wednesday. Mrs. Jesse Hullinger taught school several days last week at Avalon for Mrs. Axel Anderson. Mrs. Max Gardner, who is stake Primary president, visited Ballard Primary on Tuesday. Mrs. Sarah Norton, of Lapoint, spent several days last week with her daughter, Mrs. Von Haslem. Word has been received that Mr. and Mrs. Darrell McMullin are nicely situated at Ft. Lewis, Washington, where Darrell is in the armed forces. They think the country up there very beautiful. Mr. and Mrs. Junior Betts, Zane Asay and daughter, Roene, went to Salt Lake last Thursday. They joined those in the Temple excursion excur-sion on Friday. Mrs. Lola Christensen, of Vernal, Ver-nal, paid her first visit of the year to the Alterra kitchen on Friday, checking supplies. Miss Beatrice Stringham also of Vernal, spent Wednesday visiting the school. Mr. and Mrs. Russel Todd at tend Sunday School each Sunday morning and MIA on Tuesday evenings eve-nings at the Indian chapel at Randlett. Miss Elaine Bingham entertained entertain-ed a group of girls at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Von Haslem, on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 9. They .enjoyed sleigh riding and coasting and then Mrs. Haslem served them refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. Xavier Bellon received re-ceived word of the arrival of a new grandson, born to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mehner, who are living liv-ing at Washington, D. C. At this writing Xavier Bellon is slowly recovering from a stroke, suffered last Saturday. If he continues con-tinues to improve he may be released re-leased from the hospital sometime some-time this week. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Harrison, of San Antone, Texas, -are still staying with Mrs. Bellon. Arlin Bellon came from his army base in Oklahoma, to be at his father's bedside, but left for his base on Sunday. The other members of the Bellon family have returned to their various homes. Allen Gines, who is in school at Salt Lake City, spent the weekend week-end with home folks.. Earl Gardner was set apart at priesthood meeting Sunday afternoon after-noon as second counselor to Russel Rus-sel Todd in the Indian Mission in Randlett. ' |
