Show Kiwanis Observes 40th Anniversary With Club Program The Roosevelt Kiwanis Club last night joined the nearly 3000 other clubs throughout the United States and Canada in observing the 40th Anniversary of Kiwanis International, which had its beginning be-ginning in the city of Detroit in January, 1915. Past Lt. Gov. H. W. Marrs, of Vernal, was the speaker, using the subject, "Why I Am A Kiwanian." The Kiwanis Education committee commit-tee with Orvill Rudy as chairman, was in charge of the program, and Vice-Pres. Johnny Wogec conducted. A vocal solo by Miss Esther Wogec, accompanied by i Mrs. Lorin Alexander, was en-' joyed by the group. Miss Carol . Sagers was introduced as the club pianist. I Visiting Kiwanians introduced during the meeting included Ralph Smith of Provo, LeRoy Smith, Claud Banks, "Red" Couture and Dr. Marrs of Vernal. Reports were made by the Child Welfare committee that Kiwanis would pay the rent for the Elementary Ele-mentary gym for a basketball clinic clin-ic for small fry in Roosevelt that is being directed by Elmer Eldredge, El-dredge, and runs from the second week in January through the early part of April. Over 100 youngsters young-sters are. taught the fundamentals of basketball during this annual school by Mr. Eldredge, who started the idea nearly 10 years ago. |
