' :i If' - t i: .. . ... .- i i . . , . ; t - ' HEADS RED CROSS A new chapter of an American Red Cross has been organized in Duchesne Du-chesne County with William Sutteer, Roosevelt, as chairman. Cross Chapter Assurance of the organization ' of an American Red Cross chap-1 ter for Duchesne County became certain Wednesday morning with the announcement that William Sutteer, Roosevelt, had accepted ' the appointment of chairman of j the committee. His appointment follows a special meeting held last Friday at the Frontier Grill Cafe under the direction of Charles De-Klyne, De-Klyne, field representative for the . American Red Cross. At the dinner meeting last Friday, Fri-day, Mr. DeKlyne, who was host to twelve representatives of various var-ious civic and service organizations organiza-tions in Roosevelt, outlined some of the phases of the Red Cross program, with Blood, First Aid, and Fund Drive, the subjects especially es-pecially emphasized. Appointed as a temporary committee com-mittee to contact Mr. Sutteer, who was the unanimous choice of the group for chairman, were Floyd E. Lamb, chairman of the Duchesne County board of commissioners, com-missioners, Marion Bowman, Lions president; Don B. Nielson, Kiwan-is Kiwan-is president; Clarence Allred, American Legion commander, and Ray Summers, Ute Indian Tribal recreation department. Other organizations or-ganizations represented were Legion Leg-ion Auxiliary, by Mrs. Jack Harmston, president; Socialette, Mrs. Denny Martin, president; L. D. S. Church, Hollis G. Hullinger, stake president; and Roosevelt, Mayor Paul Murphy. Fund Chairman Named James Hall, county attorney, was recommended by the meeting (Continued On Back Page) Red Cross .... (Continued from page one) for chairman of the fund raising committee, and Mrs. Leo Hancock was again proposed for Home Service Ser-vice committee chairman. Both were present and accepted the asignments. Mr. Summers has accepted ac-cepted the assignment of Health and Safety and will direct first aid training courses. The new chapter chairman, Mr. Sutteer, is employed by the Uintah-Ouray Indian Reservation at Fort Duchesne, and is the immediate immed-iate past-commander of the Utah Department of the American Legion. Leg-ion. According to Mr. Summers, plans are completed and Monday, Jan. 31 has been selected to begin be-gin a first aid training course, which will continue for eleven weeks, and will consist of 22 hours of credit, making a 2-hour course once each week. Place of the instruction will be the Roosevelt Roose-velt American Legion barracks, with members of the fire department, depart-ment, city police department, members of the American Legion and any others interested, expected expect-ed to take the course. Mrs. Summers Sum-mers will assist her husband. Also slated to aid in the project will by C. J. Carter, special officer for the Indian Reservation. The Red Cross and County Civil Civ-il Defense committees are cooperating cooper-ating in the first aid and home nursing project. Certificates will be issued to those completing the course by the Civil Defense committee com-mittee and the Red Cross. |
