Meagher, president of the Sunshine Canal Company, has asked for bids on a new concrete con-crete diversion dam to be built above Jensen on Brush Creek. Mr. Meagher hopes to have I this diversion completed before I the irrigation season begins nex spring. This dam is one of the P M A flood restoration proje-cts in which the Federal Government pays up to 80 per cent of the cost of the project under the 1952 Flood Restoration Program. Pro-gram. The Soil Conservation Service Ser-vice is responsible for prepar- ing the design for permanent practices and to see that the work is done according to the plan. The Soil Conservation Ser vice must also certify that the completed job meets the standards stan-dards set up in the plan before P M A can pay the Government's Govern-ment's share of the cost. 1 S C S Several farmers in the Leota area are cooperating with the Uintah Basin Soil Conservation Conser-vation District to establish irrigation irri-gation systems, land leveling and other farm improvement practices. Some of these farmers ar) developing land which they settled under the Federal Homestead Home-stead Act. Specific requirements must be met by each man before be-fore he secures the title to the homesteaded land. SCS Lawrence and Arvin Coopor are building an overnight irrigation irri-gation reservoir on their farms at Leota. S C S Verda Reynolds has completed complet-ed leveling on six acres of land. 8he had hoped to level another four acres, but heavy frost in the Montwel area made it impossible im-possible for the equipment to work efficiently. |
