Show initial Incorporation Set For Rural Phone Co-op Intensive Sign-Up Campaign To Get Started Immediately Initial incorporation of the Uintah Basin Telephone Cooperative Cooper-ative Association, Inc., a proposed pro-posed rural telephone cooperative cooper-ative authorized by recent Congressional Con-gressional action, was completed complet-ed Monday night at a meeting of interested individuals in the office of the Moon Lake Cooperative Cooper-ative Association, Mt. Emmons. E. Floyd Ross, o f Myton, Farmers Union fieldman, was elected temporary president to push the rural telephone move- ment. Delegates from all parts of Duchesne county and from the west side of Uintah county voted vot-ed that suitable application blanks should be prepared, together to-gether with forms necessary for a membership sign-up campaign throughout the area, to start immediately. It was also agreed that the service area of the new telephone tele-phone cooperative should be the same as that served by the Moon Lake. Electric Cooperative association, headquarters at Mt. Emmons, and also in other areas without adequate telephone service. ser-vice. A series of meetings to discuss dis-cuss the rural telephone drive were planned for Wednesday, May 3, 8 p. m., Tridell chapel; Thursday, May 4, 8 p. m., Alta-mqnt Alta-mqnt high school; Friday, May Bulletin Frank D. Sawyer, Utah manager, man-ager, and J. L. Bickmore, district dis-trict manager, of the Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Co., were in Roosevelt Wednesday Wednes-day and Thursday contacting local people and surveying the general area to be served by the proposed rural telephone cooperative. Regarding the Uintah Basin Telephone Cooperative associa-iation, associa-iation, Mr. Sawyer said:" Our company appreciates pioneers in any field, and in this particular instance we respect the pioneering pioneer-ing spirit of the people who are spearheading a telephone cooperative co-operative for the Uintah Basin. 'The feeling of the telephone company in this instance is that of cooperation." |
