Show Oil Activity In Duchesne Co. Operations in Duchesne County Coun-ty are playing an important role in giving Utah a new place in 1 petroleum development. I The Carter Oil Company is drilling three wells in the county. coun-ty. Two are wildcats and the third is a pool well, an offset to the pool opener, Duchesne-Ute Duchesne-Ute Tribal No. 1. That well, brought in last summer, has produced more than 37,000 barrels of oil in its first nine months of operation. opera-tion. It has spearheaded additional addi-tional drilling activity and it is on this basis of the extended search for more productive areas that Duchesne County is bank 1 ing on making substantial contributions con-tributions to the state's oil progress. pro-gress. The first week in May, Carter announced location for the No. 1 Elmer Moon wildcat six miles oast of the Duchesne pool and about eight miles east of Du-chesns. Du-chesns. The well was drilled to 8,246 feet and tested the upper wasatch formations. It has been tested as producing 20 barrels of oil every 40 minutes. During early May, the Du-j chesne-Ute Tribal No. 2 well, which was in the testing stages, flowed 118 barrels of oil in 1 hours from 7,661 feet. It was plugged back after bein.1 drilled a total dgpth of 11,317 feet by Carter. The Duchesne-Ute Tribal No 1 well, which gave Duchesne County -its first oil production. currently is producing irom 0 to 70 barrels of oil daily. Almost 60 miles of the Salt Lake Pipe Line Company's ten-inch ten-inch crude pipe line fron Rangely, Colorado, to the North Salt Lake Refinery, traverse"! Duchesne County. . Since commencement of operations oper-ations in November. 1948. through April 1, 1952. the lint has transported 32 million bar rels of crude oil. j Two of the company's three pump stations on this line are located in Duchesne County one at Hanna and one at Myton. Originally, two pump stations were constructed along the lin-; one at Rangely and the other at Hanna in northwestern Duchesne Du-chesne County. Stations consisted consist-ed of three 10,000-barrels-per-day pumps driven by 450 horsepower horse-power diesel engines. Initial pumping rate was 17,000 barre'.j per day. Construction was started in mid-year 1950 of the third pump station at Myton, which wen' into operation in October of that year. The installation of the fourti pump and engine in each of the three stations was completed ir. September, 1952. With this expansion, ex-pansion, the daily through-put capacity is 41,000 barrels per day. Construction of the pipeline and the pump stations in and through Duchesne County has increased the .assessed valuation nearly $1,000,000.00, which means more than $40,000.00 additional ad-ditional tax increase. Progress of the oil industry in Duchesne County is accredited accred-ited with increasing the valuation, valua-tion, population, and employ ment in this area. |
