Show Report SSiows Herd Buttcrfat Increase Qvej Last Year By Louis A. Jensen The annual report of the Duchesne Du-chesne County. Dairy Herd Improvement Im-provement association recently completed, shows a herd average aver-age of 345 lbs. of butterfat per cow. This is an increase of 32 lbs. of fat over last year. The average income above feed cost was $357 per cow. Memoers of the Association are carrying on a program of testing and record keeping to determine the production ot each cow in the herd. Records are also kept on feed cost so it is easy to determine which cows are making a profit and which ones are merely boarders. Information Infor-mation obtained is used to culi out inferior cows, feed according to production, and determine which heifer calves should be kept for replacements. Hosca Lisonbce, of Bluebell, had the highest herd average with 11,405 lbs of milk and 425.2 lbs of butterfat on a herd of 12 cows. i 1 High individual cows include Rosie, 'owned by Delmar Me-cham. Association officers were A. C. Reay, president; Ross Mon-sen. Mon-sen. secretary; Hosea Lisonbee and Delmar Mecham, board members. Oral Thacker was the herd tester, and the work was under the supervision of the county agent. |
