Duchesne 8:30 Myton vs Firemen (End of Schedule) The Utes from Fort Duchesne bumped Myton, Tuesday night, and climbed into a tie for first place with the Myton LDS ward as they staged an 8-run rally in the last of the sixth inning to overcome an 8-4 deficit and go ahead 12-8, which is the way the game ended. Myton took command of the ball game and looked like they were headed for their seventh win as they piled up an 8-4 lead in six innings, thanks to some brilliant fielding by Merrill Chandler, Chand-ler, and steady pitching by Leon Ross. However, the first three batters in the sixth for the Fort laid down successful bunts for infield in-field hits, and Myton blew higher than a cloud. The Utes crossed home plate with eight tallies. No softball player this year, or any other year, was more sensational sensa-tional than was this. Chandler kid from Myton. He literally robbed five Fort hitters of home-runs, as he roamed out into the darkness to snag those clouts. He also came through with a home-run to prove he's a hitter as well as a fielder. Games during the past week went along about as expected the leaders won and the losers lost. Roosevelt ward beat Neola 10-7 to climb a notch; Myton beat Second ward 13-11; Ft. Duchesne ran wild against Montwel for a 27-4 victory; Third dumped Ballard Bal-lard 29-9 and Neola rallied in the last of the seventh to beat Fourth 12-11, |
