Show Death Calls E?rs. Sarah Wilson, A Basin Pioneer Funeral services were held last Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Roosevelt ward chapel for Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Wilson, 82, pioneer of the Basin, who died at the Roosevelt LDS Hospital following a brief illness. Bishop John L.' Swenson conducted. Mrs- Wilson was born Nov.. 28, 1872, in Spring City, Sanpete County, to John and Sarah Broad-bent Broad-bent Nield. She married Benjamin I Wilson in the Logan LDS Temple in 1893., He died in 1949. The Wilsons were among the early pioneers of the Uintah Basin, coming to Roosevelt in 1909 where they raised their family of nine children. Two sons, John Golden and Hyrum Eldred, pre-ceeded pre-ceeded her in death. Four other sons and three daughters survive their mother. The early part of their married life was spent in Afton, Wyoming where they helped to pioneer that area. Mrs. Wilson had made her home in Roosevelt with a daughter daugh-ter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Timothy- Speakers at the funeral were J. Harold Eldredge, patriarch; Hol-lis Hol-lis G. Hullinger, president of the Roosevelt stake, and Bishop Swenson., Swen-son., Mrs. Hullinger played the prelude and postlude, and vocal numbers were presented by Mrs. Rulon Anderton, accompanied by Janice Anderton, who sang "In the Garden;" LeRoy Anderson, sang "Going Home," and a quartet quar-tet composed of Mr. Anderson, Dwain Buchanan, Albert Harris and Owen Burgener, sang "Sometime "Some-time We'll Understand." Mrs. Hullinger Hul-linger was accompanist for the latter two numbers. Prayer in the'home was delivered by Reed Hancock; the invocation by Clifton Clif-ton N. Memmott; the benediction by Van D. Winterton, and Presley Timothy dedicated the grave. - Survivors are: Mrs. Hazel Mc Laughlin, Berkeley, Calif.;, Mrs. LaVon Timothy, Roosevelt; Mrs. Myrtle Bryce, Gutaway, Calif.; Ira B., Scofield; Vernon, Price; Wallace, Wal-lace, Santa Rosa, Calif.; Mrs. Nila B. Long, Logan; 26 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren;, a brother, James Nield, Afton, Wyo, Burial was in the Roosevelt Cemetery under the direction of the Olpin Mortuary of Roosevelt. |
