Show BASINJBRIEFS Bryce D. White, Roosevelt, and Boyd J. Redden, Upalco, are two of 26 outstanding agriculture agri-culture students who will benefit bene-fit from a gift of $2,700 presented pre-sented Monday by Sears, Roebuck Roe-buck and Co. to U.S.A.C. Mr. White's and Mrs. Redden's scholarships schol-arships will be for $100 each, and they will be in line for another an-other scholarship of $200, which will be granted to the winner of a $100 scholarship who proves himself to be the outstanding candidate during the coming year. Kenneth Zabriskie, grandson of Mrs. Roxella Galloway, was accidentally struck in the eye with a stick this week. He was taken to Salt Lake for treatment. treat-ment. Kenneth, his brother, Dean, and his mother, Mrs. Ned Zabriskie, Za-briskie, are guests at Mrs. Galloway's Gal-loway's home. Mr. Zabriskie is expected to arrive next week to take his family back to California. Cal-ifornia. - Jack Bacon returned Friday after spending a week in Bur-ley, Bur-ley, Idaho with his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Jim-my Bacon. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wilkins motored to Salt Lake Friday to attend the wedding of their neice, Jan Odekirk. Mr. Wilkins Wil-kins acted as best man. R. E. Schmucker, Mrs. J. E. Schleuder and daughter, and Dr. and Mrs. Fred Lippman and boys, of New Ulm, Minn., visited vis-ited here last week with Mr. and Mrs. Junior Fausett. Mrs. Fausett is the former Lynn Schmucker. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas McKin-lay McKin-lay and family spent last week in Denver, Colorado. The spent the weekend in Salt Lake City. . Lorin Alexander, operated on in Salt Lake Aug. 18 for a perforated per-forated ulcer, was able to return home Sunday. Mrs. Ray Jordan and her daughter, Joyce, drove to Salt Lake Wednesday to complete last-minute shopping before taking tak-ing Joyce to school at Mt. Pleasant. Pleas-ant. They returned Thursday evening. Miss Gerrie Griffin, of Whiterocks, accompanied them. Mrs. S. L. Reinsimar and two children have returned to Salt Lake after spending a week with Mrs. Reinsimar's parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Dart. Mr. Reinsimar and Peter Reinsimar drove out Saturday to get his family. Mrs. Lola Dinsdale, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Scovell and Mrs. Joseph William, all of Ogden, sent the weekend with Mrs. Dinsdale's neice, Mrs. Lola Rich-ens. Rich-ens. ' Dr. and Mrs. LeRoy Jones, of Bloomington, Ind., were guests last week of Mrs. Jones' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wiscombe. Dr. Jones, a former teacher at Roosevelt high school and principal at A 1 1 a m o n t high school, received his doctors degree de-gree from Iowa University this spring. He was in charge of the Mobile Clinic at Bloomington during the summer, and will teach at U.S.A.C. this fall. Val Timothy, son of Mr, and Mrs. Presley Timothy, critically injured recently in an automobile automo-bile accident in which his cousin cous-in DeLoy Timothy, was killed, was recovered sufficiently to be released Sunday from the Salt Lake LDS hospital. He will remain re-main in Salt Lake with a sister, Mrs.. Duane Hancock, for a week or so before returning home. His mother, who had been staying in Salt Lake since he was injured three weeks ago, returned home Tuesday. Lynn Walker, employed in Salt Lake City, visited with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Walkejr, during the week. Mrs. Lester Mullins drove to Mt. Pleasant Monday to take her son, Gary, back to school at Wasatch Academy. Gary, a member of the football squad, had to report a week early for football practice. Harmon Mullins, of Long Beach, Calif., is visiting here with his son, Lester Mullins, and his daughter, Mrs. Carlyle Reynolds, and families. Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Dart and son, Bert, of Price, and Mrs. Sena Kempton, of Sofford, Arizona, Ari-zona, were weekend guests at the O. A. Dart ranch. Bert remained re-mained for a week's visit with his uncle and aunt. 1 Lt. (jg) Hal Crumbo, of Ft Duchesne, has been called to active duty with the U. S. Navy. Also receiving their calls were reservists Richard Curry, Alfred Al-fred Parriette and Reed Hendricks, Hen-dricks, who are subject to call for 21 months of active service. Among those who have recently re-cently reported to take pre-in-duction physical examinations at Fort Douglas were John Che-gup, Che-gup, Richard Tom, Henry Tree Spencer, Colin Murdock, Glen Jenks, W i 1 b e r t Christeansen. Norman Hackford and Clarence Gardner. Dick Scholes, Rae Scholes, and Alden Alexander drove to Mid-dleton, Mid-dleton, Texas during the week. Mrs. Earl Hagen, the former Bonnie Schples, came back with them. She will make an extended extend-ed visit here with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Reidhead, of Crescent, had as guests last week, Mr. and Mrs. Kay Reidhead Reid-head and family, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Reidhead and family, of Phoenix, Ariz.; Mrs. Lucinda Reidhead, Mr. Reidhead's grandmother, grand-mother, his aunt, Mrs. Ed Reidhead, Reid-head, and his sister, Mrs. Herbert Her-bert Allen, of Sholow, Ariz. |
