Show Count Fair Plans Receiving Finishing Touches; Grounds Nov Being Overhauled Complete Schedule Of Activities Announced For Two -Day Program; Miniature Parade, With School Bands, To Start Friday's Show The Duchesne city park and fair grounds have been undergoing under-going a general overhauling, in preparation for the County Fair, Sept. 8-9, according to Allen Bond, fair grounds chairman. chair-man. This is one of the last major jobs to be done. The Veteran Young Farmer class, as part of their shop training, are changing the site of the livestock displays, which will be on ground made available avail-able by a change in the river's course a few years ago. The ground has been cleared by the Young Farmer group. Stock pens and sheds are being be-ing moved from the old site and reconstructed on a 20-acre tract of land that heretofore has lain idle. Max Hartman, fair manager, said he is excited at the possibilities offered by the grounds being leveled and cleared clear-ed for this year's show. It has also been announced that the school bands will participate par-ticipate Friday at 9:30 a. m. in the miniature parade, which will start this year's fair activities. ac-tivities. However, the bands will not be available the second day of the parade. Friday's parade will be followed fol-lowed by the Girls 4-H club demonstration, to be held at the high school at 10 a. m.; judging of hogs, 10 a. m; judging judg-ing of sheep, 10:30 a. m.; judging judg-ing of dairy cattle, 11:30 a. m.; 4-H girls style dress revue, 12 noon at high school; racing' and sports program children's foot races, junior calf roping, boys' pony race, potato race, and slow horse race, 1-5 p. m.; and a jitney dance, 9 p. m. The miniature parade will also al-so begin the second day's activities ac-tivities at 9:30 a. m. Then comes a baseball game at 10 a. m.; judging of beef cattle, 1 p. m.; judging of saddle horses, 1:30 p. m.; judging of pleasure horses, hors-es, 1:45 p. m.; and racing and sports program, saddle horse obstacle ob-stacle race, tractor obstacle race.i boys' pony race, tractor race in, reverse, ladies' musical chairs, and a pig scramble, 2 p. m. Display exhibits will include grains, flowers, vegetables, fruit, all kinds of 4-H club exhibits (clothing, foods, handicraft, etc.), and livestock, which will be judged at the fair grounds. |
