Show Fish And Game Dept. Mailing Questionnaires In order to determine the extent ex-tent of the legal harvest of Utah's big game, upland game birds, and wateri'owl during the 1949 hunting seasons, the Fish and Game department is mailing 40,000 questionnaire cards to hunters selected at random throughout the state. The ques- tionnaires are on return - addressed ad-dressed postcards for which no postage is required. A few simple sim-ple questions are asked which can be answered with a checkmark, check-mark, a word, or a short phrase. The information obtained from the questionnaire cards will be of great value to the game department in determining determin-ing the numbers of game harvested har-vested from each of the hunting hunt-ing areas of the state, the distribution dis-tribution of hunters, and many other data that will be of great assistance in the formulation of future management programs. The degree of success of this method of determining the game kill is, of course, directly proportional pro-portional to the ratio of cards returned. The game department therefore there-fore urges all hunters who receive re-ceive one of these cards to fill in the requested information promptly and drop it in a mail box. The holes punched around the margins of the cards will be used for coding the information informa-tion so that, it mav be automatically automa-tically tabulated. It is thus important im-portant that they not be torn out or otherwise mutilated. |
