Show Progressive Party Rflahes Clean Sweep Of Offices M Tuesday's City Election 4 Mayor Homer P. Edwards Receives More Votes Than Combined Opposition . The Progressives uncorked a landslide 'Tuesday, capturing every ev-ery office in local municipal government. The new city officers of-ficers will take over at noon, Jan. 2. According to unofficial tabulations, tabu-lations, the vote was not close in any of the contests. Only Lynn Johnstun, Peoples Choice nominee for 4-year councilman, with 138 votes; Paul Wilkiis, Citizens nominee for 2-year councilman, 134; Max Owen, Peoples Choice candidate for i treasurer, 127; and George Harrison, Har-rison, Citizens nominee for may- or, 126, ran' close to their Progressive Pro-gressive opponents. There were a total of 312 votes cast in District 2, and 165 in District 1. The voting was slow Tuesday until the afternoon, after-noon, when the voters started flocking to the polls in a steady stream, and continued until the polls closed a few hours later at 8 p. m. Mayor Homer P. Edwards received re-ceived more votes than the combined com-bined opposition, Hank Swain, Peoples Choice, and George Harrison, Har-rison, Citizens. The rest of the Progressives followed the lead er, winning without too much difficulty. Paul Murphy, Progressive Pro-gressive candidate for 4-year councilman, received more votes than any nominee in the race a total of 351. The unofficial count of the votes cast for the various offices of-fices is as follows: Mayor Homer P. Edwards, District 2, 179 votes; District 1, 105, total, 284; Hank Swain, Peoples Choice, District 2, 43 votes, District 1, 20 votes, total 63; and George Harrison, Citizens, Citi-zens, District 2, 88 -wotes, District Dis-trict 1, 38, total. 126. Four-year councilmen Paul Murphy, Progressives, 241, 110,. 351; Bennie Schmiett, Progressive Progres-sive Party, 202, 100, 302; B. O. Colton, Peoples Choice, 53, 31, 84; and Lynn Johnstun, Peoples Choice, 83, 55, 138.
