Show Five Generations Meet For Photo In Bluebell Area BLUEBELL (Special) Mrs. M. Verona Winkler celebrated her 82nd birthday on Feb, 12. She was born in Salem in 1874. She married mar-ried Herman Winkler on July 6, 1894 in the Manti LDS Temple. They came to Bluebell in 1911 from Ferron, Emery County and were among the early settlers. They had six children when they came here'. Three more were born to this couple after moving here. Herman Winkler left for a mission mis-sion for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Central States on Nov. 15, 1915. He died June 17, 1926. Mrs. Winkler served as president presi-dent of the Relief Society for 23 years; president of the Primary for 9 years and washe first Primary president in Bluebell. She is still active in church activities and enjoys en-joys good health. She crochets and each one of her descendants is the proud owner of some of her handiwork. She enjoys reading. This month when the ward chapel was being cleaned, Mrs. Winkler washed all the little chairs' and varnished them, i She' had 8 living children, 44 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, 1 great - great - grandchild. This is the third time she has been a five generation member; one, 38 years ago and one 19 years ago. Mrs. Alice Mathews married Claud Mathews and has made her home here in Bluebell since coming com-ing to Bluebell with her parents from Ferron. She is the mother of 10 living children, has 24 grandchildren grand-children and 1 great-grandchild. Mrs. Agnes Mecham married Joseph Mecham and has lived here in the Basin all her life. She was born in Bluebell. She now lives in Vernal with her family of seven children. The eldest girl in the Mecham family, Jean and her husband, hus-band, Leslie Holt and her baby daughter of 4 months live in Livingston, Liv-ingston, New Mexico, A five-generation picture was taken and appears along with this story. |
