Ed South of Salt Lake City was a Roosevelt visitor Tuesday. Mrs. Wm, H. Ruppel who was taken to the hospital in Salt Lake City, is reported on the improve. Mrs. Earl Dillman of Salt Lake City spent the week end at the i home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray E. I Dillman. I Mrs. Harold Dalton and two children are visiting here with Mrs. Dalton's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mont Arbuckle. Mr. and Mrs. I. S. Welliver of the Murphy saw mill above Al-tonah, Al-tonah, were visiting in Roosevelt over the week end. Mrs. Ethel Bair and her daughter, daugh-ter, Theda of Richmond are visiting visit-ing at the home of Mrs. Bair's son, Mr. and Mrs. V. A. Bair. Mrs. D. L. Swain and son, Noel of Provo are spending two weeks visiting at the home of Mrs. Pearl Swain. Mr. Swain is in the U S Navy on overseas duty. Miss Thora Mower spent Saturday Sat-urday and Sunday in Roosevelt visiting. She is employed at the Telephone company in Salt Lake City. Charles Iorg is visiting his daughter, Mrs. Frank Griffin. He has been employed at Korbel, California, the past two years. Mrs. G. M. Romney of Salt Lake City spent the past week visiting at the homes of Mrs. George H. Harrison and Mrs. Wm. H. Ruppel. Eldon Mortensen of Ephraim, nephew of Marion Mortensen, arrived in Roosevelt last week end to spend some time here before be-fore entering the service. Mr. and Mrs. Hal Taylor and two children of Provo spent Sunday Sun-day in Roosevelt visiting at the home of Mrs. Taylor's mother, Mrs. Gertrude Fredrickson. Mrs. Taylor is the former Miss Anna Fredrickson. Mr. and Mrs. John A. Wallis of Ogden spent the week end visiting visit-ing with Mr. Wallis' sisters, Mrs. George H. Harrison and Mrs. Wm. H. Ruppel. They returned home Monday. Mrs. Martin Curtis, Jr., the former Miss Edith Harrison, arrived ar-rived home last week from New York, where she has been visiting visit-ing there with her husband, who is in the U S Navy. Mrs. Bernell Swain left Sunday Sun-day to spend a short time with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Pierce at Las Vegas, Nevada. She has been visiting with Mrs. Pearl Swain. Pvt. Bonnie Jean Beaird has returned to her base at March Field, California, after visiting with her sisters and their families, fam-ilies, Mrs. Harold Dillman of Roosevelt and Mrs. Haller Wit-beck Wit-beck of Meeker, Colorado. Mrs. Marvin Todd and son is visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Todd. Marvin is in the U S Army and has been stationed sta-tioned in Italy. Mrs. Todd has been residing at Taft, California, but will remain here for some time. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. McConnell of Salt Lake City are in Roosevelt Roose-velt this week attending, the Baptist Revival meeting. A special spec-ial feature of Friday nights service ser-vice will be the reading of a testimony written by Mrs. McConnell. Mc-Connell. Mrs. Gawin Goodrich, the former Miss Phyllis Pierce and Mrs. Hall Goodrich, the former Miss Bonnie Pierce of Los Angeles, Ang-eles, California, spent Saturday visiting friends in Roosevelt, from here they went to Vernal to visit with their husbands' parents, par-ents, and later will go to Las Vegas to visit their parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. R, Pierce. Their husbands are serving in the U S army overseas. Daughters of Utah Pioneers The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers met Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Mary Orser with Mrs. Elsie Taylor and Mrs. Gladys Zimmerman as hostess-ess. hostess-ess. Mrs. Helen Howell, the president pres-ident presided and conducted the exercises; Mrs. Tina Wilkins led the singing; Mrs. Olive Harrison, the secretary called the roll and read the minutes of the last meeting. meet-ing. Donna Rae and Renee Lab-rum Lab-rum sang two numbers; Mrs. Mattie J. Edwards gave the lesson les-son which was on the Monuments Monu-ments erected by the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, one of which the Duchesne county camp has erected at Duchesne in 1936. Those present were Mrs. Howell, How-ell, Mrs. Wilkins, Mrs. Harrison, Mrs. Edwards, Mrs. Peter Anderson, An-derson, Mrs. Virgie Murphy, Mrs. Essie Alexander, Mrs. Lila Nichols, Mrs, Pearl Redmond, Mrs. Margaret Wiscombe, Mrs. Alta Phillips and the hostesses, Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Zimmerman. Zimmer-man. The president appointed Mrs. Tina Wilkins to investigate and make arrangements to take care of the old bell which was the first in Roosevelt. Mrs. Edwards was appointed to see about the celebration on July 24th. . Rhoades Family Reunion Held The Rhoades reunion was held at Yellowstone private Forest Camp Sunday, June 18. Thirty-two Thirty-two members of the family were present from Hanna, Tabiona, Altonah and Salt Lake City. Miss Norma Jean Crookston of Salt Lake, a visitor at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. Foster Rhoades and Mrs. Sarah Gabey and two small daughters also of Salt Lake I who is visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Clark were guests. A lamb dinner, cooked dutch oven style was served; a program was rendered and games played. They report that the reunion will be held at Tabiona Tab-iona next year. Bridge Party Friends were entertained at the home of Mrs. Fred C. Ferron Wednesday evening. Covers were laid for Mrs. Eugene Harmston, Mrs. Gordon Harmston, Mrs. J. V, McLea, Mrs. Ray S. Jordan, Mrs. C. L. Ashton, Mrs. Bennie Schmiett, Mrs. Robert Huish, Mrs. Les Mullins, Mrs. Sam G. Weiss, Mrs. V. A. Bair, Mrs. Carroll Car-roll Robbins," Mrs. J. O. Orser, Mrs. Axel Birch, Mrs. Paul Wilkins, Wil-kins, Mrs. Parley Lambert, Mrs. Homer P. Edwards, Mrs. D. L. Campbell, Mrs. R. Q. Warnock and guests, Mrs. Ethel Bair and Mrs. Edna Hanna. The evening was spent playing bridge. Bridgelie Club Mrs. Karl Burgess was hostess host-ess to the members of the Bridg-ette Bridg-ette club at the home of her parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. John E. Wiscombe Wis-combe Thursday evening. After a lovely luncheon was served tables were arranged for bridge. Those present were Mrs. Bill Nelson, Mrs. Ned Bellon, Mrs. Bennie Schmiett, Mrs. Gordon Hajmston, Mrs. Parley Rawlings, Mrs. Ralph Felker, Mrs. C. W. Zumwalt, Mrs. Frank Mohlman, Mrs. Mont Killian, Mrs. Glen Miller, Mrs. Bernard Larsen and Miss Karma Dee Harmston. Friday. Bridge Mrs. Nell Wilkins entertained the members of the Friday Bridge club Thursday evening. A lovely luncheon was served and tables were arranged for bridge. Those present were Viola Harmston, Elva McLea, Bee Jordan, Beryl Mullins, Mat-tie Mat-tie Edwards, Agnes Ferron, Areva Huish, Billie Bair, Elsie Campbell, Mary Weiss, Marva Corbridge and the hostess, Mrs. Wilkins. Announce Marriage Mr. and Mrs. Victor Horrocks announce the marriage of their son, Pvt. Floyd A. Horrocks to Miss Emily Fay Parsons of Memphis, Mem-phis, Tennessee. The marriage took place at Camp Butner North Carolina. June 21. Birthday Parly The following little friends of Dicky Ruppel were entertained at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. H. Ruppel in honor hon-or of his sixth birthday: Dicky Weiss, Bobbie Allen, Billy McLea, Mc-Lea, Bobbie Labrum, Buddy Zumwalt, Quin Corbridge, Kenny Ken-ny Benson, John and Dicky Ruppel. Rup-pel. A birthday cake centered the long table and when cut into played "Happy Birthday to You". After dainty refreshments were served, the little guests were entertained at the Utopia Theatre. Ladies Fish and Game Club Party Held Saturday evening the Roosevelt Roose-velt Ladies' Fish and Game club held their monthly meeting and party at the City park. Ellen Rawlings, president of the club presided and the vice president, Dora Larsen was in charge of the sports and luncheon. Mrs. Eldarcne Settlemier King of Price was the honored guest. Thirty-five members of the club were present.' Thought and Thimble Club The Thought and Thimble club met last Friday evening at the home of Rcnetta Granger. Those present were Mrs. Tom White, Vivian Gleaton, Hazel Beeler Tina Wilkins, Pearl Redmond, Opal Dillman. The evening was spent sewing and refreshments were served. |
