Kennedy, 26, son of Mrs. Phebe Kenendy, Randolph, Utah, is a member of a Fifteenth Army Air Force Liberator Group, recently ac- corded the War Departments Distinguished Unit Citation for particularly successful bombing mission against the Florisdorf oil refineries 'at Vienna, Austria. Mem bers of both ground and air echelons were included in the citation. Kennedy is a teletype operator n the communications section of his group. A graduate of the South Rich high school, class of 1937, he worked on his fathers ranch before entering the service on May 4, 1941. Overseas since last March, he holds the Theatre Ribbon with two Battle Stars, in addition to the Disting uished Unit Badge. THE WITH FIFTH ARMY, ITALY Corporal Clyde M. Kennedy, son of Mrs. Lois Kennedy, who lives in Randolph, Utah, has been promoted to sergeant, He is a tank driver with the 1st Armored Division of the Fifth Army in Italy. Albert Hodges, who is employed the week end here with his family. He plans to move his family there next week. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Woffinden and family of Layton, Utah, visited over the week end with Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Sims. Other week end visitors in town included Mr. and Mrs. Archie Sims and family of Mantua. Mr. and Mrs. Cleneth Arnell and family of St. Charles visited Sunday with Mrs. Arnell a parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. J. Hodges. The following townspeople shopped in Montpelier Saturday: Mrs. Laz-ett- e Satterthwaite and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Calder, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Esterholdt, Mr. and Mrs. Lavere Hansen and Mr. and Mrs. Milford Wamsley and family. Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Stock of Fish Haven were recent visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Cook. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Calder of Evanston visited here over the week end. Mrs. Kenneth Sims received dental attention in Logan Sunday. D. J. Wamsley is visiting for several days with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Wamsley. Mr. and Mrs. Robert V. Calder made a business trip to Logan last week. Others attending to business in Logan during the week were Mr. and Mrs. Lavon Sprouse, Sidney Hyden, Mr. and Mrs. Lavar Pope and Helen Wamsley. Robert Calder, for wounds received in action in Germany on. Dec. 14th. Pvt. Calder is still confined to a hospital in England as the result of his injuries. Rex MEMORIAL SERVICES HELD FOR DALE REX memorial services Impressive were held Sunday in the Randolph ward chapel under the direction of Bishop G. W. Peart as follows: Opening song, Oh My Father, by Randolph choir; invocation, Wins low F. Smith; song, I Know That My Redeemer Lives, by the choir, LaRue Hatch soloist Kenneth Muir was the first speaker. Mr. Muir was Dales school teacher in grade school, and also his high school teacher. He was his class advisor in his senior year. He said, to speak at Dales memorial seyviqefcwas like speaking, at his own sons' funeral. Said he and Dale advanced together and was one of the finest boys he ever taught, and the last nine years of his schooling, was neither tardy nor absent. He read a poem, The Prayer of a Sportsman, which was characteristic of Dales life. He also read letters from Professor R. D. Law, former South Rich high school teacher; Les Goates, sport news writer; Floyd Millet, sports directed the B. Y. U.f who accompanied the basketball team to New York when they played in.
