To be Crusaders sure there are pastels here and here and a few blacks for spice, but in general the trend is toward an that seems to reflect the seasons sparkling snowy land scape. The styling of these airy-fair- y rocks is romantic and picturesque with swirling skirts below tiny waistlines or slender sheathlike types of siren grace. Bodices, draped or describing subtly molded lines, accent the lithesome grace of youthful figures, and important above all else is the overwhelming preference shown for the d gowns, very decollette and sophisticated. Fabrics favored are the fine sheers which are priorities-fre- e rayon up o eight yards around a hemline, the dainty white rayon nets, marquisettes, chiffons and laces which especially endear themselves to the heart of the party girl, because their is permanent, no Gen. Decorative silver embroidery is used effectively for trimming many of the new formals, and for variation there are gowns which use silver lace to border the hemline and to outline the decolletage. A favorite bodice treatment in the sheer rayon net and marquisette gowns uses wide or narrow shoulder straps, heavily encrusted with sequin, crystal or brilliant embroidery, on a draped or shirred camisole bodice, as instanced in the brilliantly embroidered shoulder straps and midriff section applied to the entrancing frock shown to the right in the illustration. The draping of this snowy white rayon chiffon gown continues the becoming line of the softly gathered bodice. Other gowns derive their quota of fashionable glitter from fine lame fabrics used to fashion sleek-line- d bodices above full white skirts. A gown of this type as pictured to the left is most charming for midwinter parties. Here the sparkle of harlequin-patterne- d rayon and silver lame teams with the pure white of fine rayon net. The gracefully draped top of the haltered basque is complemented by new-styl- e folded arm cuffs to create an interesting line. Fur or feathers appear here and there to add keen interest to the vogue. White ostrich is dramatic when drifting in long plumes with cleverly planned casual effect over the full skirt of a stately gown in crisp white marquisette as shown centered in the trio. Silver bullion vine and leaf embroidery complements the soft masses of ostrich. The narrow shoulder straps and front bow of the shirred bodice repeat the silver contrast note. Sophisticated gowns in pure white with decollette are beloved by debutantes this season. Classically molded sheath gowns in exquisite white rayon satin, jersey, or lovely white rayon lace often favor deep cut sweetheart necklines banded with white sequin or glittering crystal embroidery. Frothy white capes of the same fabric as the gown may be worn over the low-cnecklines. er rayon-and-silv- queen-of-diamon- ds all-whi- te off-shoul- ut Released by Western Newspaper Union.
