He made a trip to Florida the land of palms, flowers and ocean breezes. Elder Rex has been privileged to spend his entire time in Florida in the various cities along the Atlantic sea coast. I have labored in Georgia twice, South Carolina, Florida and am now laDoi-iu- g in Alabama, new territory where lady missionaries have never labored before. Here my companion and 1 are located near the heart of the Gulf of Mexico, where we enjoy fishing for oysters owning and cooking them our selves. The same with shrimp and crab. It is great sport. They are all funny looking little oyeaitures that often send shudders up' our backs. The people here eat them raw and enjoy them Oh, no, Ill take mine cooked. We can also tell you of strange with roaches almost as large as a horse fly and nice pet bed bugs. They say you are not a true missionary until you have had the itch to boot. These days will be long remembered and are indeed the happiest days of our life. This year we held the first state convention ever held in the Southern States mission. Here we mot together in Florida for three days of spiritual feasting and social gathering. We were also privileged to tour the en- es v MONTE CRISTO ROAD HO BE COMPLETED .THIS YEAR While attending the boxing matches held in Ogden last Saturday night, Ben Petre of this city had an opportunity for a chat with Mayor Perry of that city. It developed, during the discussion that Ogden is bending every effort to have the Monte Cristo road thru Ogden canyon to Woodruff, completed this year. The mayor said: The road will he , built. and stated that two substantial contracts have already been let ' by Utah on this road. When completed Kemmerer and western Wyoming will be brought about 25 miles closer to Ogden, not counting elimination of the Cumberland Flats, which have caused much grief in years past. The new highway will also be one of the most scenic in this part of the country, following as it does, Ogden river through Ogden canyon. The road on the Wyoming side is entirely oiled and a good surfaced road to Voodruff, Utah. Out of Ogden an excellent highway exists up the canyon for quite a ways. With the new contracts completed, but fl few miles of new construction is necessary. The Kemmerer Gazette. . EXPENSIVE ECONOMY Invocation ..Bp. Vernon G. Robinson Selection ....South Rich Male. Twenty of Remarks and Discussion Chairmen of the missionaries made the trip, during the various committees of the Rich which we visited St. Tam- Augustine, pa, Daytona, Miami, Palm Beach, West Palm Beach, Orlando and crossed the Tammami trail through the famous Everglades of Florida. We held conferences at all of the branches as we went taking two weeks to make the trip. It was a thrilling experience for all of us and we enjoyed it immensely. Perhaps you too would like to take it with us if so, just settle yoursef back comfortably in your arm chair, step on the gas and come along. Well, here we are, already to start our tour through Florida. There were twenty misisouaries who had been thus ly privileged to make this trip with President and Sr. Richards. Three cars carried us all, namelyl. President Richards, Elder Rexs Gospel Chariot and The Puddle Jumper. Eagerness only half expressed the feeling of our little group as we left Jacksonville, Fla. With such perfect host and hostess our wants were almost a minus quantity. The exceptions were: Better springs under the back seat, a little more back seat and better brakes. However, the lack of brakes only added to our moments of suspense, tor as we traveled at the rate of from forty-fiv- e to fifty miles per hour, out would dash an unexpected car and bang would go on what brakes we had with a question from the driver: Do you think you can manage that emergency if the worse would come? Closer we would go to the oncoming vehicle. Silence prevailed, all leaned simultaneously forward with hands clinched a narrow escape, a deep sigh of relief and we would continue. . The old adge that a good cover does not make a good book, is undoubtedly true. But it 4s equally true that a poor cover does not recommend a good book. GENERAL MORNING SESSION Twenty months have glided swiftly away since I left for the Sunny South. 1 was followed closely by Elders Donald Rex and Orell Smith. Many times in the .past few months our paths have crossed and reerossed. We find the work very interesting, our testimonies have heen greatly enhanced and as Elder Smith often says: No greater joy can come to a man or woman than the joy of serving the Master and following His instructions. If any man will do His will, he shall know of the doctrine whether it be of God or whether I speak of myself. We can say trutfully that we know of His doctrine. That it is the power of God unto salvation to all that be- lieve. and that it is the only true gospel. We bear this testimony aud no one can ever take it from us. Many times I have been thrilled by the powerful testimony born by these elders. Ill tell you we can be proud of our neck of the woods. - Elders Smith and Rex have now been fourteen months in the mission field.
