Have you ever heard you haven't you are way behind in the news. Just what does it mean? Some say it is a vicious of it? If type of socialism, aiming to set up a dictatorial form of government bv engineers. Exponents of it, declare it to be the only solution for our economic ills. While most of us are whol Ly ignorant of. the plan. define Technocrats its meaning thus . A government by skill; economic equality. My. interpretation of government by skill, is: Men skilled in the technical relativity of energy to a compensation. For example: If man could produce, with a machine, enough energy in one hour to provide him with a living, he should receive full pay for that energy he produced and given the other twenty-thre- e hours of the day for leisure; not to work seven hours of the day producing energy for the employer and one hours enersrv for himself as is the system today. Its theory is to buy leisure and equality with the machine, make it the slave of man: free him from the burden of phsical drudgery in the production of human wants. But the theory that man should work eight to ten hours for his bread of is so deeply rooted in the minds society both employees and employers that it will take many technocrats many years to put their new theory over. You may doubt that. But suppose our county commissioners had $30,000.00 to spend in our county for road building, and wpre told by the state: Here are three gravel trucks, a steam shovel and two graders. Take them and do your $30,000.00 worth 'of road building with them; but divide the work equal in ly with all those needing work your county on an energy basis if as one man ine one hour can build much road with this modern 'equipment as he can in eight hours with his team and self, just work him one. , Why a Telephone?
