' J. 0. Rex, Town Board President Attest: Leo McKinnon, Adv. Town Clerk Boost The Water County March 23, 1929. The Sheepmen of Randolph and Wpodruff were greqhly benefited by a visit to the county by Alma Esplin the Sheep and Wiol Specialist) from the Extension Service of the Utah Agricultural College. Mr. Esplin two days to meetings and demonstrations designed to bring to the wool growers information relative to grades of wool and market data necessary to know in order to properly appraise the market value of the wool on the farm or on the sheeps back. Such information is valuable to sheepmen in increasing their bai gaining power and liejps them to know what wool is worth and what they should got for it. The value of wtoo1 depends upon many factors some of which are, the grade, quality, shrinkage, length, the amount of sand, dirt, straw and burs in the wool, flhe way it is tied, ana packed enters in flhe quality of the shearing done, some shearers double clip tSie fleesq when taking it off the fibres and creating within the fleese a percent of short wool, the care exercised inf keeping the black fleeces sepe(rated and no only the fleece but all bits of black fleeces should be cleared away before a sheep with the white fleece is shorn and the fleece should be taken off carefully leaving it? in tact, careless shearers will oft times break a fleece into many pieces .while taking it off. Wool buyers have penalized the wool producers for carelessness in producing, and harvesting the wool crop and preparing it for market. Weather and feeding conditions practices may have an effect on the quality of the wool. Weak place-- - n. the fibre have been known to develop because) of the shock on the system of a sheep that has suffered from severe cold and lack of feed. Mr. Esplin was urged to come back into the county at shearing tim.e The matter of a sheep club in Woodruff and one in Randolph was discussed. This idea met with mucn favor and leaders ,--were selected as follows: For Wbodruff Dillon Fra zier and Glen Frazier. For Randolph J. O. .Rex. The question of breed came up and a. vote showed the majority of those present in favor of the reThe Itamhoulette Hampshire. ceived a good vote and itl was doubtful whether the Hampshire would better than the Ramboulette. Because of! the late start" it -- was agreed that the boys interested should be encouraged to join a club ana either grow a bunch of orphan lambs or work otherwise to get money to buy a purebred ewe this falL about September. For thi3 movement to result in the most good it will be necessary for the parents! of the hoys and girls and the whole communities to get behind it with an ac'iive interest. The calves belonging to members of the dairy calf, club at Randolph have grown into cows and several of them have freshened this sprang. It does not seem long since these 'these registered calves and pi r tended tp grow1 them out. The boys should keep record on the milir their cows produce and get rije milk rested so that they will know whar the cowts are producing in Walter Marshall is sending the product from his cow to the Chee- Factory and for two weeks he received over $7.00 for the milk he sold This is a very good showing for n heifer.' If these boys stay with tne enterprise they .have started by- th time they are old enough to go to college their cows will pay the expen-j-of their schooling or at least be a wonderful help.
