Show successful conference mutual improvement associations hear lectures and report on years work sunday was a daa da fraught with great consequences to ohp work of the dominant church of this community inasmuch as it NN witnessed the quarterly c conference of the mutual improvement association of the sevier stake three meetings were held and with nith the exception of the young mens meeting in the forenoon all were mere well attended during the forenoon the oung ladies and the young men held separate sessions and their work consisted for the most part in reviewing rev review ieving me conditions in the various wards of the stake chris peterson superintendent of the stake associations reported that conditions throughout the stake are generally favorable and although they are not as flattering generally as might be wished he fat that much progress had been made during the bear 3 ear at the conclusion of his address the officers of the v ards were nere asked to submit their reports at the session mrs L A heppler spoke on the subject of theology he she classed this subject as a science which overtops over oer tops and embraces all other sciences and urged the boung people to adent its precepts she asserted that contrary to their belief they would find that theology does not detract from the pleasures of life bt bit b eliminating dross make life more eibo enjoyable abac mrs spot e learnedly on the same subject edward edvard 11 anderson a member of the general board delivered an address in which he urged the young men of the city to cease a attending tte iding the familiar street corner gatherings s and devote their time to study and reiding reading he give gane some excellent advice as 0 o the proper selection and use of a library advising his to shun literary trash and lead only books on practical subjects oreb that stimulate thought As to the study of theology theolog he remarked that it is of no benefit unless anle s it teaches self sacrifice at the en evening ening session miss mildred forgeon delivered an interesting address on the benefits which a mission arv derives from his work in the misson mission field hei address showed direful preparation and was appreciated by the audience mr anderson the speaker of the evening talked on the sime same subject the musical numbers contributed mich mach to the enjoyment of the meetings 1 during the afternoon session miss rhodi ransom gave a beautiful rendition of one of the old fa favorites orites the duet by fred I 1 fjeldsted and miss hazel baker was as well received the musical numbers at the evening session was an organ solo by J george barrett a selection by the SeN seventies enties quartet and music by the orchestra all the officers of the mutual improvement association were retained for another ae ir |
