Show associated C CLUBS PLAN ro MEET IT AT flefil BE T new recreation hau hall to be i ope opened ned by delegates at social session last minute minute details for the monthly convention of the associated civics clubs of southern utah and the grand opening of deltas now new recreation hall set for saturday and sunday at delta are practically complete announces frank law president of the delta lions club the host best organization festivities are scheduled to start friday night in the new building and activities on saturday are expected to make that day the biggest of the year for all millard county the delta high school rabbits will tangle with the east side high school of salt lake city eleven on the gridiron at one sat sa t arday at the delta girls drum and bugle corps will give a 15 minute exhibition of playing and marching arching in after which the first business session of the civic officials will convene at three p m at a 30 minute program of entertainment and music will be given in the high school auditorium and the banquet will follow at 6 the feature of the day will be the official opening dance set for with a short ceremony at ten immediately after the opening exercises the grand opening waltz will get underway and the merriment will then continue informally another recreational feature of the two day celebration will be pheasant hunting both saturday and sunday mornings the season in that part of millard county is open for eight days ending sunday and under the direction of tile the delta lions organized hunting will be directed for those who wish to join the party I 1 mary many nigh high state church FERA county city and civic officials are expected to be in attendance at the business sessions of the group and take part in the general celebration numerous matters of vital importance to the state in general and southern utah in particular are scheduled to come before the directors according to president frank G martines gus P backman secretary of the salt lake chamber of commerce has asked that he be be given time to discuss several matters including the promotion of the alunite deposits of plute county and the distribution of the state gasoline tax funds his attitude on the latter subject is not known but the civic group stoup is definitely against any proposal to divert even a small portion of it to any other purpose although a meeting in santa fe new mexico of the american association of state highway of ficiala will prevent the attendance of utah road commission members they will present a written report of progress being made on southern utah roads says K C wright chief engineer the commission has again been asked for some definite word relative to when bids will be asked for on the construction of the four or five miles of highway 89 from thistle to birdseye and the salina canyon road president martines anticipates another successful meeting and urges as many local people as find it possible to attend the monthly convention |
