Show PAID TO 0 AT STAKE tokens presented former presidency in appreciation of service in making the presentation of t tokens of appreciation to the retiring presidency of the sevier stake their wives and mrs john dr T IL gledhill counselor in the new presidency at the testimonial held in the tabernacle friday night voiced a general sentiment when he said 1 I 1 think it most fitting that the largest audience wo we have had in this tabernacle should be the audience here tonight there is no greater monument than this tabernacle itself to the integrity of these leaders referring to the many times he had bad passed the tabe tabernacle macle early in the morning and found president young at work on the grounds or around the building when it was webs in process croci of bf an construction st dr gledhill said 1 I saw hini him digging diggin 9 so often 1 I 1 wondered rd if he v was i the proverbial proverbs bW scotch m tn dogging the grand canyon he referred to president youngs outstanding characteristics as his love for his people p eop le 1 his h 15 courage of convictions his bis tolerance and charity he spoke likewise in terms of sincere praise for the work of president jas IL peterson president P H gunn and the late president john christensen and of the ladles ladies who were honor guests to mrs peterson Pete raon he paid the well deserved tribute 1 I 1 dont know of anyone who has baa contrib contris butted more to the public with her music made less fuss about it or done it more easily and gracefully than she to each of the presidency a gold watch was presented and to each of the ladies a set of table linen while a cello solo was played by 11 L done accompanied by mrs L A poulson at the piano seven little girls presented boutonnieres of roses to the men and bouquets of flowers to the ladles ladies roses were also presented to patriarch arch J oseph joseph S horne home pioneer stake president and bishop who held a seat of conoron honor on the stand in responding to the presentation of gifts each of the honor guests generously gave credit for their accomplishments to their immediate associates and to the people of the stake who loyally supported them recalling the time when the sevier stake extended from redmond in the north to marysvale Marys vale in the south during which period president young and president peterson served for years the presidency of the north and south sevier stakes were invited to occupy seats of honor on the stand the audience wai was delighted with the little presented by the fourth ward primary un under der direction of miss maurine depicting with colorful costumes grandmothers old fashioned garden and the nationalities of the family tree president E W poulson gave a brief address of welcome cello by a quartet composed of mrs L A poulson mrs otto L anderson H B mendenhall and lynn W fawns were a source of pleasure to the audience for the occasion the tabernacle had been beautifully decorated with flowers the games directed by miss thelma dastrup and clifford mag leby assisted by recreation leaders from the various wards on the lawn east of the tabernacle immediately following the program were entered into with a zest by a large crowd |
