session of the sevier stake conference hold saturday evening and sunday in the new stake tabernacle the attendance at the conference averaged nearly fifty per cent higher than the attendance in in previous conferences when inadequate seating room in the ward chapels has been the reason for many people of the stake absenting themselves from conference sessions session ss and still the building was not filled elder stephen L richards Eich ards of the council of the twelve who on his is visit to the stake about two years ago strongly urged the erection of the tabernacle and has given great encouragement to the stake in its undertaking was quite appropriately the first to deliver an address before a regular religious assembly in the new tabernacle at the saturday evening session he centered his remarks on the magnificence of tho the new structure and on the purpose of the building as a house of worship an outstanding feature of the conference was the splendid rendition of anthems by the stake choir numbering about fifty voices under direction of stake chorister J L terry with mrs anna C ellis stake or gani stat the organ president R D young presided at the ope opening u i n g session patriarch H S bell of glen glenwood wood offered the invocation elder richards address was followed by a baritone solo by kenneth L hood president young in reporting that president john christensen who is under the care of a specialist at cedar city was unable to be in attendance at the conference spoke of president Christen sens wholehearted devotion to the people of the sevier stake and expressed the general desire of everyone that the president will soon recover and be able to attend stake gatherings orson F christensen john W ross and dr E W poulson of the bi high 9 h council spoke briefly the benediction was pronounced by president A E yalmer palmer of the lethbridge canada stake the sunday morning session of the conference was devoted more especially to the dewey with mrs S R boswell as first and mrs hanmer peterson as second counselor was sustained to fill the vacancy dr T it gledhill and judge N J bates were sustained as new members of the high council W L warnor warner was released as president of the stake YM ina M I 1 A the vacancy to be filled later bishop W A who has been serving as stake clerk since the resignation of W H robinson Ko binson was released as bishop of the second ward and officially sustained in his new officer office W L warner was vas sustained as bishop of the second ward C W powell jr and arendell IC hansen as counselors following the presentation of authorities ties H D christensen played a violin selection short talks were gidez given i by president young charles wilson and enoch R larsen of the high
