evenin evening g for the purpose of discussing sin 11 1 1 the question of monroe main sheet white way a project which is being sponsored by the and lions clubs nayor mayor glen winget officiating at the meeting explained the lighting ligh system problems lems for and against stated that each club had offered to pay and the city had offered to pay the remainder opinions were given freely by the taxpayers the majority were in favor of applying the oiling process of main street and repairing the electric lines and water system mayor winget explained also that the city was not financially able to undertake the oiling of the road the lighting system und and repair without borrowing money it was decided deci leI at it last to table the project of rhe new white way vay for one year when it is discussed by principal C A white at the parents teachers meeting frilay friday evening met with favor in the organization the need of a library alv al V is almost unanimously felt in our city this year shows a decided increase of births birth and deaths over the previous year ac according colding acco iding to the report given by clara paxton deputy registrar the records show there were 72 births birth 36 males and 36 females in 1928 which compares favorably with 1927 when there were 52 births 27 males and 25 26 females of the deaths reports show there were in 1928 23 burials bu rials of which 15 were males and 8 females only 15 deaths occurred within th the e precinct 8 bodies being shipped in for burial in 1927 there were 15 bur bals of these there were 13 deaths in the precinct 4 males anti and 9 females black hak war veteran passes away gardner doxford one of the veterans of the black hawk war and a sturdy pioneer of the sevier valley passed away at his home saturday evening following a long illness mr doxford was born bom in england 77 years ago he came to utah with his parents parent ahen a by boy in the indian troubles of sevier valley although still young he served ser ved as drummer rummer boy bov at which he proved very apt he is also remembered as being prominent in the early day brass abass and martial bands many of the substantial brick homes in the county were built by mr doxford he being a mason by trade he is is survived by the widow mrs annie doxford five daughters mrs jane nay of victorville Vic torville california mrs airs mary sheffield of magna mrs violet forbush mrs airs arvena nielson and mrs airs zetta octta nielson of monroe two sisters 38 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren survive funeral services were held tuesday day an account of the services will appear in next weeks issue former monroe 1 onroe matron buried here the body of mrs airs anna maria andreason who died at shelley idaho january 4 was brought here for burial wednesday mrs andreason was one of the learly early pioneers of monroe she was born in denmark august 3 1840 and came to utah after embracing the gospel when a young woman she was married to 0 C andreason and they settled in monroe where four children were born bom to them her children now reside in idaho mrs andreason has lived there with her children in recent years her son christian accompanied the body ll 11 here ere for burial buria in ili honor of sugar factory force and mesdames C B halladay chas crabb lott kirkham and S G of the sugar factory force at austin were honored guests at a party given at the home of mr and mrs alfred bell saturday evening with the lucky number club I 1 as hostesses As an entertainment feature a clever one act play the miracle was presented
