school supporters bup porters who assembled at the north sevier high school auditorium last friday evening although the program was long no one found it tedious everyone felt better for having herd the inspiring music and speaking and for having seen the twenty six happy young men and women men those exercises with the sincerely and excellence of spirit have brought many more live enthusiastic thusia boosters boasters bo to the side of the high school one prominent citizen stated 1 I realized before the wonderful work the high school is f doing for our young people and our community whenever you need my services dont be afraid to ask me for time and money or any other kind hind of boosting the hall was decorated with bea ticul spring flowers and the school colors into this setting the graduates marched as mr G ba M hanson former music instructor played a lively march the high school chorus then sang ila la azarine mazurka Ta zurka with much spirit the invocation was offered by george A christensen of redmond rosena and esther johnson played a piano duet william tell next then don cooper presented the class history this was not only given excellently but the history was fashioned after the style of the poem hiawatha A double mixed quartet composed of seniors then sang come where the lilies bloom this was followed by the valedictory speech what north sevier has done tor for the class of 24 11 by helen anderson clayton harward next played a selected saxophone solo then owen F beal of the university of utah delivered the address to the graduates his talk was very inspiring it dealt with the influence upon civilization of of high social ideals and was remarkable in its depth of thought S M jorgensen presented the diplomas to the graduates and moroni lazenby gave the benediction the inspiring services bame to an end with a selection by the high school band albion after the services the whole crowd went vent to the social hall where the juniors gave the commencement dance for the graduates this dance was a fitting climax to the school year the high school colors had been skillfully used in decorating and the orchestra was all it should have been refreshments were served in a delightful booth at two the dancers were tired out out but loathe to leave such an effective dance twelve Semi seminary students will vill graduate another graduation exercise will be staged next sunday evening at the second ward church when twelve seminary students having com plated the three year co course urse otter oller ed here will graduate lion banquet and dance at mount blount pleasant last saturday evening they report that they had a delightful time and were much impressed with governor Bla mabels beys speech mr cope the school clerk spent monday in salina checking affairs with principals evans and the grade and high school teachers not living in salina have left for their various homes 0 0 john anderson is very ill at his home in salina doctors have as yet been unable to locate the direct cause of his illness i mr bir and mrs john boyington and mr and mrs H P madsen of mantl visited with mr and mrs joseph anderson last sunday afternoon the three ladies are sisters H B crandall returned home monday from california where he was called urgently last week miss zinda freece returned to salina from last saturday where she attended school last winter jerlein sorensen the small daughter of mr and mrs joseph sorensen who has been exceedingly ill with peritonitis at the hospital for three weeks is now slowly recovering i i nearly twelve salina families are quarantined with measles w 1 mr and mrs franz mattsson their daughter blanche and mrs maria mattsson were tho the guests of oscar mattsson at a maple grove outing last sunday afternoon ac mrs alfretta hermansen and friends spent sunday at maple grove nifty fifty club women of salina attend convention when the annual convention of the sanpete sevier federation of clubs convened at the snow college auditorium last saturday may 24 fifty salina club women were in attendance thirty nine of these ladies represented the literary and civic chic club and eleven of them represented the club the opening meeting began at 10 a m the club chorus sang the stars adothis at this meeting at the luncheon held on the college lawn mrs ella gates responded ded to the toast for the salina literary club and miss bliss steena responded for the apro gresso the ladies report that they en joyed every bit of tho the convention tire affie program was not only entertaining ta it was of the highest type the music was especially appealing and all the papers given showed careful preparation and much food forethought thought tor for the tha next annual convention is even now being happily anticipated by those who attended the one held last saturday |
