Show 'peter MOXSEN CELEBRATES j HIS NINETY-THIRD BiltTHDAV Peter Monsen, the second oldest resident of Mt. Pleasant celebrated his ninety-third birthday anniversary with a dinner and a family re-union I last night a.c tue home of his daughter, daugh-ter, and sou, Mr. nd Mis. Erick K. Ericksen. Madsen of Manti, Judge George Christenson oi Price, Mr. and Mrs. Oreld Beckstiom of WinterQuarters, Mr. and Mrs. Christian Jorgensyu of , Ephraim, Messrs and Mesdames James Monson, Joseph Monson. Gilbert Gil-bert Beckstrom, Joseph Johansen, Frank Jones, Orange AUlrich, Paul Monson, Austin Monson, Anthony Poulson, Shirley Poulson, A.U. Mcintosh, Mc-intosh, E.R. Poulson, Mrs. Harold Sorensen, Mrs. Pauline Petersen, Mrs Esther Andersen, and Milton, Ralph andi Helen Ericksen. , Followig dinner, Judge George Christensen, a son-in-law of Mr. Monson, Mon-son, read an interesting sketch of the varied experiences of ti'e pioneer's life, and musical numbers were enjoy ed. also a radio concert. Mr. Monson who is the only resident resi-dent survivor of the original 'band cf pioneers who settled Mt. Pleasant in 1859, came to Utah in 1855 as a convert con-vert to the Mormon faith. He has been twice married, both wives hav-ir.g hav-ir.g died several years ago. He is the father of twenty one children of whom fourteen are living. His posterity pos-terity includes ninety-eight grandchildren grand-children and one hundred and tan great grand children. He is still comparatively well and active, keenly interested in the times and news He has filled many positions of trust and honor in both civic and religious life, and his family is well known throughout the state. He served in the Black Hawk Indian Wars and now enjoys his monthly pension. Ho is an active member of the Mt. Pleas ant Pioneer Jljisloricail Association which he helped organize in 190 9 or. the fiftieth anniversary of the settling settl-ing of Mt. Pleasant. |
