It lias therefore heen decided to pay the farmers $1:MI0 per ton for beets next year instead of $1(1. UO per ton, the price 110' prevailing last year the rale was $7.00 per ton. At the recent meeting of the beet sitRiii producers in Washington, Mr. Hoover appealed to the producers of beet sugar, including farmers who' grow heels, to increase production to the fullest extent, suggesting that producers trust to the food administration adminis-tration to adjust the price of sugar on some equitable basis. Iiecause of the extreme scarsity of sugar and also the urgent appeal of the food administration, it is expected expect-ed the farmers will respond patrio- "tieally. The Utah-Idaho Sugar Company, Com-pany, the Amalgamated Sugar Company, Com-pany, the Layton Sugar Company, the People's Sugar Company and the West Cache Sugar Company announce an-nounce the new scale. The food administration reports the scarcity of fodder and advises the farmer to save all beet tops, using most modern methods. |
