In most instances articles classed as luxuries are. every day necessities and the tax simply adds to the cost of living. As an illustration, candy is called a luxury, while the milk, sugar, and chocolate entering into manufacture are not. The requirements of the army proved candy to be a necessity, not a luxury. The public will pay its necessary tax bill without complaint, but "nagging" "nag-ging" faxes will aiways cause dissatisfaction dis-satisfaction and should be repealed. |
